Three former Ireland rugby internationals won Limerick JFC medals with Ahane last weekend.
Former Leinster star Sean Cronin and ex-Munster fly half Ian Keatley lined out together in the half back line, while former Munster flanker Tommy O'Donnell was among the subs as Ahane edged out Camogue Rovers for a 1-12 to 1-11 victory. Better known for their hurling exploits, it was Ahane's first football championship success since the 1930s.
The winning point was scored by Gavin Rowsome deep into injury-time.
