The Ulster Club SFC quarter-final between Erne Gaels and Scotstown has been postponed following the passing of Mark Lyons, a former Erne Gaels player and brother of captain, Ryan.

Originally scheduled to take place in Brewster Park this Sunday, the game will now be played on Saturday week, November 16 at 5pm.

Aged just 41, Mark Lyons passed away on Tuesday evening after a short illness in Plymouth, where he had been working as a carpenter. The father-of-two excelled in both football and hurling with the Belleek club, winning an IFC medal in 2008 and playing in their 2016 SFC final loss to Derrygonnelly.

Like his brothers Shane, Damian and Ryan, he represented Fermanagh at inter-county level and was delighted to see his beloved club lift the New York Cup after a 43-year wait with victory over Enniskillen Gaels last Saturday evening.

Mark is survived by his children Adam (19) and Sofia (11), his parents, Dermot and Margaret Shane, brother Damian and Ryan and sister Charlene and Margaret.

"It's with great sadness that we learnt of the unexpected passing of one of our past players Mark Lyons," Erne Gaels posted on Facebook.

"A bittersweet few days for our club with Mark's younger brother Ryan lifting the New York Cup last Saturday evening for us now to be heartbroken for the Lyons family on the passing of Mark.

"Mark, known to many of us as Big Nuggets, played football with the club for many years - youth & senior! A great supporter when he was away but always enjoyed dawning the black & amber jersey when he could - eventful & joyful!

"No doubt plenty of stories and memories of Mark will be spoken about over the coming days but for now we keep Mark's devastated family and friends in our thoughts & prayers for the tough days and weeks ahead.

"Rest Easy Big Nuggets."
