Ballyhale Shamrocks booked their place into semi-finals of the Kilkenny senior hurling championship by ousting holders Thomastown with a 1-22 to 0-16 victory at UPMC Nowlan Park this afternoon.
Henry Shefflin’s men edged an 0-11 to 0-9 lead at half-time and increased their advantage to seven before Niall Shorthall lashed in the game’s only goal for them on 43 minutes.
From there, the 20-time champions would go on to record a nine-point win and join Dicksboro and Mullinavat in the last four of the Tom Walsh Cup race following their respective wins yesterday.
The fourth quarter-finals between O’Loughlin Gaels and Clara commenced at 4pm this afternoon at UPMC Nowlan Park.
