There are a few other lads his age in Kilkenny, Tipp and Clare who would be very good also.

I really hope for cushinstown and of course wexford we both get a player. I was talking to the lad who marked him for Dublin who normally is centre back for Dublin was brought back to mark him he said that he was as strong as an ox has all the ability. My brother was over cushinstown minors and said he was a joy to work with has all the mentality to do it

He has more potential than anyone else I've seen at minor for us for a long time. Forwards who can win their own ball by all 3 methods- catching contested ball, by getting out in front and winning dirty ball after it's broken, are very rare. And then to have the threat he carries when he does have it in his hand, directly in the form of points and goals but also indirectly by spotting teammates in better positions, is equally rare. Couple that with his engine and workrate, I saw him tracking back as far as our own 45 on numerous occasions at u16 and minor for the county last year and for his school as well, and you have someone who could potentially be elite, and elite into his 30s barring serious injury, Tony Kelly or TJ material. Potentially. He has work ons, he misses more frees and 65s than an elite Senior freetaker would for example, but then so does TK also. Any details on a challenge game this weekend? Have seen no reports etc on either Kildare or Westmeath game. Have seen other counties posting details and updates on twitter etc. OpenStandWall (Wexford) - Posts: 160 - 16/01/2025 21:20:11 2586143 Link 0 |
The talk around these lads is madness really!!! We don't really need to be piling pressure on these lads to be honest, because although they look talented and have a little bit of potential,it absolutely doesn't mean that when they hit 18 they are goin to be senior intercounty hurlers!!! Leave em off to enjoy there underage careers because thats all he might potentially have with Wexford!!! He's a good 16 year old that's dedicated to hurling that's it!!! We have all seen so many great young lads at there own age group and the expectation put on them catches up on them as they go on and really they have reached there ceiling at underage and don't progress and end up giving up or just a average club hurlers!!!I do hope it works out for the lad!!! Just let him off to enjoy it

From what I've seen on Cork's twitter they've played UCC and Waterford and have had pretty much their starting 15 from the AIF in their panel, including Horgan who I thought wouldn't feature until at least the end of the league. Would be fearful enough for next Saturday tbh being a repeat of the league game last year. It's not the end of the world if so, but we'll have to get at least 4 points from games vs Tipp, Kilkenny and Galway, those two home games back to back will decide our fate I think regarding staying up or not.

They should never have got rid of the Walsh Cup

Clare have a good few injuries. At the end of the day the hurling is going to be much slower on heavier pitches. No reason we can't do as well as anyone else.

You would miss it. I suppose the only benefit is that there are more serious inter provincial challenges but i seem to recall Dublin playing Limerick around this time last year anyway.

2.22 to 1.21 to Waterford, fear we could be in a bit of trouble against Cork next weekend .

We haven't a clue what midweek training our lads are doing, or Corks either. We don't know what team Keith will pick, or what team Cork will pick. Who can say how next weekend will go?

At this point nobody knows what is around the corner for wexford hurling. Our main aim in the league would be to stay up. Come the leinster championship who know we could win the thing. But I have to say hanlon and keefe retiring and liam ryan out of action are huge huge blows in terms of leadership on the field. After 2019 we went down hill instead of up which did not inspire the younger generation. If wexford hurling don't win a trophy or anything this year we will be looking at the joe mc Donagh I don't think I could put it any clearer it's as simple as that. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not down playing the lads by any means, come Saturday I'll be in the park full of optimism we will get a result. Nervous to get it all under way now and we can stop the guess work.
