Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "The GAA must have been too embarrassed to publish the official attendance figure for the Dublin/Roscommon game… reckoned to be under 10k… The GAA football Championship is in a pityfull position at present thanks to the big wigs greed and constant changing of both rules and competition structures…"
Is the constant changing not mostly coming from the supporters? All I keep hearing is calls for more and more changes.

Dublin v Ros 11,176.

Total attendances Round 1 around 68k.
Probably nett €1m for the GAA coffers.

Imagine playing a game that attracts 10k in a 82 thousand stadium. Lord above, we really know how to market our games and make them attractive

Dublin County Boards' choice of venue for their home fixture.

Indeed. Other than the unlikely event of drawing a genuine contender in first game- Mayo in this case - it has decreasing merit.

I hate when DCB put hurlers there. Dismal place on a cold Spring night with 6,000 people, spread around.

Good old GAA big wigs… How to deal with the paltry attendance figures…? Just raise ticket prices for the latter stages of the Championship and fleece the fools about right…!!!!

They'll be lucky to get 50k at the Final so. ....!

As usual a silly comment…. If the final was London v New York it would still be a full house as the majority of people who attend the Final go just to say they were at a final…or go as tickets come available through clubs etc… It doesn't alter the fact that the football championship is in terrible mess as the paltry attendances at matches shows… This is a plain fact but might be a little too much for someone of your limited knowledge to work out…

As I am getting older I think the GAA are looking more and more like Ryanair.

Exactly, an amazing occasion in kilkenny today,, put that into Croker and it would have been lost.

9000 can hardly be described as a big crowd… Fair play to the Dublin supporters who travelled in big numbers which is strange because they wouldn't go to Croke park beside them last weekend… The FA Cup Final might have had a lot to do with that I'd say..!

What was with Cavan so? Are they more cosmopolitan Wendyballers who were watching the Champions League final?

Were there even 1,000 Cavan people there?

They had a lot more sense than waste time and money going to a non event…. Only a fool pays into an event that you know the outcome beforehand…
