Replying To ORIELMAN85:  "Total football attendance will be up again this year. Like I said before " you don't know what you don't know". Talking nonsense without one shrewd of evidence. 15,000 at a championship Rd. 1 game, not too shabby. Anywhere but Croker and it makes for a great atmosphere. Was in Ballybofey, and witnessed a great championship evening. So get back to your soccer and your love of the premiership. The GAA will manage well without your ilk. Attended 8 GAA games in the past 7 day, and considered it all good value for money."
8 games in 7 days….. You must not have a whole lot to be doing…. A wee visit to a doctor might do wonders for you….

That's unfair and ridiculous way to criticise anyone

How may at the other matches. Looked big crowds in Limerick and Kilkenny.

He's from Cavan. The thought of paying into 8 games in 8 months would make him break out in a sweat. He cannot conceive it in 7 days

It's not criticism… it's good sound advice

That's a surprisingly large attendance for a game Tipp home game with nothing for them to play for. Lot of tickets sold in advance I wonder.

18,785 Kilkenny v Wexford.
34,187 Limerick v Waterford

I'd say our Cavan comrade is more aghast at the fact he paid into 8 games in a week!

There was 31,487 at Limerick V Waterford .
Outside of Munster hurling & Ulster football to a lesser degree attendances have dropped dramitically , how many attendances so far in this years championship in hurling or football have been over 30,000 so far ?
5 is the answer ...all Hurling matchs in Munster with 2 of these 5 fixtures Limerick v Cork & Cork v Tipp both having over 40,000 .

That's hardly a sensible comparison since the only stadium outside of Munster which can hold over 30'000 is Croke Park.

Was there not over 40k in the Páirc for Cork-Clare too? Might of been just below it maybe?

I see the doctor regular. She is a big Tyrone supporter and like myself is immersed in her local club. Have inquired about an appointment for your good self, to see if there is any treatment to slow down or stop the large amount of brown liquid that you are projecting onto the various forums on HS. Mentioned your home county and she said not a hope. The cost would be way beyond the admission prices to GAA games and well out of your proposed budget. Will check around the other pages that you splatter your nonsense on and maybe we could organise something together. Meanwhile we have another great weekend of GAA action to look forward to,thanks to the powers that be for giving us almost perfect structures for our hurling and football championships. Won't make 8 games this week, as some of the underage is on exam break. Roll on the weekend.

Yes attendances away down on recent years with the exception of Munster hurling. Poor enough attendances even in Ulster for the football - too many meaningless games this time of year is affecting the provincials I think.

It didn't look anywhere near 20000 in Thurles

There's too many intercounty fixtures these days. Impossible for them all to be meaningful.

I think Leinster hurling hasn't changed a lot. Attendances below from 2013 are similar to what we are seeing in the round robin. Rarely breaches the 10k mark aside from finals unless Wexford are going particularly well.

7,512 QF Wexford home to Dublin, Replay in Parnell park 7,000
8,237 QF Offaly at home to Kilkenny
5,387 SF Laois at home to Galway
9,674 & 10,532 SF Dublin Kilkenny draw and replay in O'Moore Park
36,657 Final Dublin v Galway

Hopefully a resurgent Offaly will add an young and exciting team with a big following to this in a few years.

Munster and Leinster football are just not competitive unfortunately and the lack of jeopardy for the football groups make a lot of games glorified challenges. In Cork, we beat Clare in game 1, we are though, most of the public don't expect we'll beat Tyrone or Donegal so have switched off. Nice to win but the main thing was to qualify, not what you want for championship.

Could it be pre-sold tickets to people who didn't turn up when there was so little at stake? You'd often see big attendances called out from Munster rugby games in Thomond when the place would look empty enough. The would be counting all the season ticket holders. I'd say something similar in Thurles yesterday.
