Wexford Hurling thread 2024

It would have to be a awful day altogether for me to sit in the stand. Love the openside rain or shine just think the view is much better and like being able to watch the match with the big stand in the background. Please god we get a good crowd Sunday it's shaping up to be the nicest day of the year yet so hopefully that will convince people on the fence.

Simons experience will be a loss. Was our best back last year

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "I did caveat it with saying that he has been chronically injured and played injured as well. But for me he does a lot of fouling and gives away a lot of frees.
When he is fit there is no doubt he is a giant of a man and huge for Wexford. I see Dublin targeting Ronan Hayes with ball but I also think Reck will sit to help O'Hanlon or Foley out to try snuff out our attack."
The fact that Dublin might be reverting to targeting Ronan as full forward explains why Wexford are 2/5!

I sincerely hope that is NOT the game plan but I fear there are limited options. Not optimistic.

Apparently Cian Molloy is out with a hamstring as well but even if he was fit I can't see what he has done to even be considered to start ?! He's been injured most of league and wouldn't give the commitment for the last couple of years since out of minor so can't see Rossi picking him based on that - Simon Donohue if fit and as vice captain would be on before him too. Murphy deserves his chance Sunday so hopefully he gets it.

Can't agree with your half back line, Donohue will definitely start if he is fit.

He's a gifted athlete and a natural hurler. Better equipped than most.

He's inexperienced at this level but the makes of a fantastic player.

Judge it on the weather myself so going open side on Sunday, if there's a strong wind in the Park and its blowing into the side your sitting on it can be horrific, agree stand has a better atmosphere.

Larry O mentioned this on the Wexford hurling podcast but was hoping he was an unreliable source.

I'd be happy enough with these probably see Eoin Ryan and Darragh Carley next in a line if we got awful luck with injuries

I got my tickets yesterday, was keeping an eye on the forecast and it remained consistent. I'd say alot might only get tickets at the weekend, for league games I usually just buy them that morning incase I couldn't go but got the 5 matches for €75 offer for the league this year.

Molloy was very good in the Walsh Cup final and Kilkenny game before he picked up his injury, holding prejudice against them based on previous years would be bite off your nose to spite your face stuff, i probably wouldn't start him ahead of Murphy either but if he's fit definitely have him in the 26.

Eoin Ryan definitely earned his chance over the Walsh Cup and League. Carley is a good player but only started 1 League game. I imagine our training games are ferocious with competition for places. As it should be.

I can't remember the last time I was in the stand for a championship match to be honest. Come to think of it I may never have been.

Would always favour the sunny side:)

Double header in 2009 in the torrential rain where we drew with Roscommon and lost to Limerick is the last time I was in the stand for a championship game.

Patsy only missed last year with the Seniors. He was u20 the year before.
