Is Dessie Ward part of the panel this year.? Was hopeful his rotten luck with injuries was coming to an end. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1949 - 27/01/2025 21:01:34 2588056Link 0
| Indeed, a real front line player for Monaghan now. A lot of the men we need to see stepping into big roles are very injury prone- Jones, OHanlon, Ward, Lavelle too. Hard to get a full panel to pick from. Still holding out hope that Conor Leonatd can break through. He's a real natural footballer and would suit the new rules brilliantly you'd think. | So we are paying Andy Moran and John McElholm for nothing then? veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 869 - 28/01/2025 09:27:23 2588100Link 0 |
What has that got to do with Dermot being part of the set up? You need to wise up and get off the stool and attend games rather than depending on second hand information. ORIELMAN85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 840 - 28/01/2025 11:07:17 2588125Link 0

Attributing it all to him is not good. No mention of McElholm who is the coach veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 869 - 28/01/2025 16:22:06 2588218Link 0
We have had a lot of bad luck with injuries and players unavailable for whatever reason Boyle Kearns Gallagher Carey. It really is a team in transition and there's a few now who were squad players for years in mid to late 20s getting their chance now mcbennett mccarville Loughran garland lennon. The good thing is they have been in the set up when div 1 so know the standards required. Agree with earlier poster saying we really won't know where we stand for a few matches which is v true as how many times over the years have we won our first match only to struggle then in the league when the other sides get up to speed also. That cavan match was our first derby in years we went in as clear underdogs which helped focus minds. Different challenge this weekend as will expect to win which is not something we tend to carry too well. Don't forget we had to wait last year after our first league game until the last match of all ireland group stages for our only other win so a win on Sunday be big one to get for confidence given year we had in 2024. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1919 - 28/01/2025 20:07:05 2588257Link 3
Again, you open your mouth and let yourself down. Nobody claimed Dermot was the only one coaching. What was said was that you could see his influence all over the field on Saturday and that I agree with. But then again how could one expect you to understand as you were holed up in your lair among the "legends in their own mind", celebrating the long over due All Ireland Club Championship that you won (in your own minds) after the big win in Enniskillen. You need to get out and about lad and attend games. ORIELMAN85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 840 - 30/01/2025 11:42:29 2588471Link 0
I would expect Monaghan to beat westmeath sunday, they have a lot of absent players and are only coming from Division 3. 222 (UK) - Posts: 881 - 30/01/2025 12:22:07 2588479Link 0
Where was his influence ? How on earth can you say our particular plays as influenced by him .. what a ridiculous statement. But we are used to this by now on here … veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 869 - 30/01/2025 14:10:38 2588495Link 0

Routine win against a very mobile but inexperienced Westmeath team who made a game of it for 60-odd minutes. McCarthy outstanding, Mooney excellent too but Beggan would be roasted against a better side. Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1268 - 02/02/2025 18:24:23 2588972Link 0 |
Great free flowing football today, Westmeath are struggling but any day you kick 32 scores you have to be happy with the days work!! A win for the under 20s today over Cavan in first round of Ulster league also I see which is a great start for the young lads, Paul Curran is brewing nicely for a crack at the seniors in a few years. Is many of Malones minors involved? Any panel? farneygael3 (Monaghan) - Posts: 427 - 02/02/2025 19:36:56 2589005Link 1
Haha think we found the Paul Curran account. The man wouldn't even make a kit man for a senior Co team veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 869 - 02/02/2025 19:55:22 2589015Link 0

Are you even from Monaghan? I know Scotstown people recently seem to be above everyone else, but here, your on another level. I'm ashamed to have you as a fellow monaghan man. Did you ever hear the saying "less is more" farneygael (Monaghan) - Posts: 338 - 02/02/2025 20:32:50 2589028Link 4
Easy win as expected, big test in round 3 against the rossies, will give us a proper idea of were we are at. Scoring charts are very good. I think if we had of a had a decent forwards coach in 23, we could have won sam. Andy Moran showing his worth. 222 (UK) - Posts: 881 - 02/02/2025 20:53:53 2589035Link 0
Hey lad ease of the beer… we will see after the likes of the Roscommon game and the 1st round of ulster what Andy Moran is bringing to the party.. we could have drove the team bus up through the centre of cavan and westmeaths defence such was the space afforded to our forwards so il reverse judgement of morans input until we get bigger tests… mick2007 (Monaghan) - Posts: 616 - 02/02/2025 21:14:33 2589046Link 0
