We didn't give the league the respect it deserved like the other teams so we were deservedly relegated
No doubt we went there to win but the previous last 4 performances influenced our dismal first half performance where we were opened up at will, and our preferred option was to play the ball backwards. It was naive to think performances can be turned on like a switch. Let's call a spade a spade. Only a good championship run including beating our nearest and dearest can justify that league strategy. We did get to an AI semi final last year after all.
The positive is that only Derry in Ulster would beat us at that second half performance

What was going on with the Tyrone players spending so much time on the ground??? MCGeary got a hit. But Morgan was down for 5 mins and then ran up and down the pitch like Usain Bolt. Can the game not continue when a player is getting attention?

Was a key moment alright the missed free but the team when they got it back to a point lost their composure and in truth never looked like winning after that.

That's a real bug bearer of mine too… you are correct.. the game should continue as a player is getting treatment… I guarantee it would cut out a lot of the nonsense with players killing time and breaking up the opponents momentum by going down injured …. It's high time the GAA nipped this in the bud…but I won't hold my breath..

Unfortunately Monaghan probably got what they deserved last night. The first half was nothing short of a shambles. Monaghan conceded at least 1-4 from turnover and unforced errors. Tyrone on the other hand scored 7 points from the first 7 atracks.

It was our most senior players who were making the biggest mistakes.

That was a Tyrone team that was there for the taking with McKiernan,Harte,Meyler and Kilpatrick missing.

In typical fashion Monaghan never say die attitude came to the fore in the second half. But unfortunately bad execution and missed frees meant it was a step too far.

The mark to level it, was massive I think if the game goes to a draw Monaghan would have been strong favourites to kick on and win the game. I honestly think it knocked the stuffing out of the players.

Going to Division 2 is probably the level we need to be at for the transition to life without Darren,Conor and Karl. The Mayo game is a good challenge two weeks out from Championship and hopefully we can sign off Division 1 with a win.

Barry Cassidy was at it again last night getting O'Toole black carded but ignoring a deliberate body collid in front of him against Tyrone in the first half.

On a side note I think the GAA could sort out the feigning of Injuries by making the injured player go off until the next break in play.

Also any opposition player stooping the taking of a quick free should be issued with a yellow card instead of moving the ball up 13 metres.

Anyway time to focus on Championship and hopefully we can get O'Hanlon and Hamill back on the pitch, but I do worry about McAnespie, that's his third start in the league and he gone off with what looks to be the same injury.

It'll be a long long time before we're back in div.1 if we don't get our full back line sorted out. The number of goals we've conceded were a concern going into the game yesterday but holy Lord Canavan and McCurry had the run of the place yesterday on a night that should have been a defenders dream.

Ryan doesn't have the speed any more and O'Toole is a half back moonlighting in the corner. There's specialist corner backs in the county somewhere, nows the time to blood them.

Made a good fight of it but deserved to be relegated. Poor composure let us down, sickening to see Tyrone beat us again in an important game and relegate us, we always seems to let them dictate things.
Manzy was class last night.

Sad to be relegated but would be hopeful at getting back up next year.

I think Darragh Cavanagh showed up how slow our main attackers are. McManus is classy football but is getting on.
Jack is slow - good distributor of the ball but slow

We are in the tough end of Ulster - so probably no medals this year

Sorry to see Monaghan finally go down. They're a team that I have always liked. I'd say there'll be a good lash in the championship out of them though! Let's hope so!

Think you are typically looking for a row where there is none. If you read the post again he says we deserved what we got, don't know how that's not taking a beating, he also says "on a side note" regarding players feigning injury, never actually called out any Tyrone player for doing it. Regarding Cassidy he has shown consistent bias against us now for a long time and we are well entitled to call it out.

Yet again putting these great ideas out there without actually offering an alternative or solution. Who are these specialist corner backs you're referring to? Specialist corner backs don't exist anymore. You have to be a ball player also, that's why Conor Boyle was the perfect man to have in the full back line. There isn't any better man markers in the county right now than O'Toole or Wylie. Shane Hanratty is about the only name worth throwing in the conversation. Roman Grimes is also a great man marker at club level and probably deserves a mentioning.

That's fair enough but he can't blame Cassidy for the black card. Cassidy has done Tyrone no favours down the years. The difference yesterday was Canavan.

Has C Boyle retired? Massive loss if so. You are right, there is a lack of defenders in the county for this elite level.

Grimes was an All Star as a minor. Why has he not made it at senior level at this stage ?

Genuinely sorry to see yous go down. One team I was never full of confidence going up against. Ye had some staying power for Div 1, for a county as sparsely populated as Monaghan is.
Beat us a few times, including this year. Don't lose the faith!
