U14 fixtures and reserve fixtures are up on the website now. traditionally u16 and U18 fixtures start first Tuesday and Thursday of April to coincide with the clocks going back, throw in time usually 6:30pm. I am not hearing good things about the structure of the u12 competitions . 4 x spring league games starting on 23rd March and every second weekend there after. finishing up with a finals day in cloghan mid May . and then nothing until August . hardy enough game for this age group, I believe the fixtures committee have been given a directive to get U14 league competition completed before the school term finishes and they were plagued in previous year with requests to move semi finals and finals due to players on holiday . I believe u12 is still under the go games umbrella isn't an official fixture with appointed refs and scores kept latefortraining (Monaghan) - Posts: 127 - 13/03/2024 10:46:12 2531004 Link 0 |
Yeah, the situation around U12 fixtures is a complete disaster, due to start next Saturday, but no information on whether its home or away, or what time they are at. Against my better judgement I took Veterangaa's advice and contacted my club secretary, but they haven't a clue either. A total disrespect from County Board for families trying to plan their weekends.

I'm not talking about the actual uploading of the fixtures. If you go to the 'https://www.monaghangaa.ie/fixtures-results/' section of the Monaghan GAA website, there is a drop down menu entitled 'Select Competition'. When you access this menu the first category is 'Senior' under which there are 26 headings many of which should not be in this category, but leaving that aside, I just checked the 1st 10 headings, 7 of them were not working and are for previously year's competitions. That's just for the 1st 10 headings. Properly categorising competitions and removing dead links is not a difficult task and it is not too much to expect that this be properly maintained for ease of use. In general terms we are lagging very far behind most other counties and many clubs in our online/social media offerings. I am not blaming the person or persons currently managing things but like I said in my previous post if a call was made for people with relevant skills or expertise in this area to lend a hand you would hope some suitably equipped people might come forward. monaghan_ultra (None) - Posts: 213 - 13/03/2024 13:31:22 2531031 Link 0 |

That's true. That's a simple enough Wordpress procedure and an evenings work.

Yes they are sent the master planner fixtures for the year plus additionally each grade as they are released. This is their job

He must be club secretary, explains how he knows everything else.

The master planner says the Spring League starts on Saturday 26th March. It doesn't say who is playing who, where, what time. It's okay for Scotstown with all their resources, but for a club like Killanny with one pitch and multiple teams looking for the pitch, how are they supposed to plan?

Best of luck to team and mgmt this weekend. Been a tough canpaign with so many injuries and players missing for one reason or another. Id be hopeful of a decent display but our inability to defend this year has been our achilles heel so difficult to see anything other than div 2 football next year. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1880 - 16/03/2024 07:57:21 2531318 Link 0 |
Strong looking Tyrone starting team with options off the bench. A horrible wet evening. One for the die hards lads. Good luck Vinny and team.

I used to associate Monaghan with having a mean defence! Giving a team that much space on what should be a defender's night is criminal. GenderNeutral (Meath) - Posts: 121 - 16/03/2024 19:58:28 2531500 Link 0 |
Monaghan carried out on their shields tonight. Division 1 will certainly miss Monaghan next year. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3586 - 16/03/2024 21:30:44 2531543 Link 0 |
Some spirit in tonight's performance, but we were all but down prior to this match. Knoxboya (Monaghan) - Posts: 368 - 16/03/2024 21:35:16 2531545 Link 0 |
Couldn't fault the effort of the team tonight but needed that bit more composure after the second goal and the game was there for us. That is the first league match that we could field as close to our strongest side and it showed in the performance if not the result. Division 2 won't be easy but might help newer players find their feet as remaining stalwarts leave the stage. Still a championship to play and the players will be hurting with a point to prove. First relegation since 2012 and after ten years in div 1 many skirting with the drop on the final day we couldn't escape trap door forever. Div 2 has been no harm to sides like Derry Tyrone Dublin Galway Mayo in recent times so regroup there next year and bounce back but still a championship to play. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1880 - 16/03/2024 21:41:39 2531548 Link 1 |
Hard luck to monaghan team tonight gave everything in second half at least. First half was sloppy. It's being a great journey had to end someday I guess. McGuirk1985@ (Monaghan) - Posts: 87 - 16/03/2024 21:43:56 2531550 Link 0 |
