Let's call a spade a spade this was a complete and utter disaster. We scored 24 points which is fine but to concede 7-34 is inexcusable. Our defence has had a brutal league.Management have a major problem on their hands. The loss of Noel County,Conor Shaw Aonghus Clarke and Dara Egerton have led to massive holes in our backline. Its hard to know how they will resurrect them for Mcdonagh.

From what I witnessed today they will be relegated to the Christy Ring Cup. No way will be able to compete to win the Joe McDonagh currently. Hopefully I'm proven wrong! The first touch of Westmeath was so poor today. As highlighted several times before the fitness levels are so poor and remain a big issue. That won't be sorted this year as the hard fitness work needed to be done in November /December and it's too late now.

Stay in the Joe McDonagh unfortunately is the only realistic aim for the rest of the season. The defence was in shatters all day. A slight overall improvement in the second half.

Egerton is out till August,Shaw is in Australia, Aonghus retired from county so let us face the reality.

Bringing back Egerton might be a challenge, he's out until November with an ACL. Can we stop referring to him and Aonghus as being losses? One is retired, one injured for the year or can we start saying that Ger Jackson and Ollie Gallagher were badly missed today? We're now facing a rebuild, possibly involves relegation to Christy Ring, patience will be needed to encourage younger players. Management unlikely to last beyond the year and replacement will need to be prepared for pain before gain. Our younger players need time to physically develop, size wise we were very light and small today, Clare are All Ireland champions and they were annihilated in Ennis today so this can happen. Our league campaign has been disappointing but our level is approx 15-16 nationally.

Hopefully some of these promising development squads we have coming through will give us a some stronger minor showings over the next few years starting with this year's minors under Brendan McKeogh.

Hardly worst result ever, we were playing a side that should be in Division 1, they needed to win, it was on the cards,

It was just a point didn't fully know was retired apologies no need bite head off lol. Ye rebuild needed I wouldn't put down just one area tactical awareness in previous game also poor that comes down to .management as well and physicality but not all issue can improve over Tim's with weights nutrition etc.. can't control height but ye can get bit heavier nd improve tactical nuances needed at the level. Weatwmath were anywhere between 11 to q6 leinster championship to Mc Donagh

when hanley came in v quick in 2011 after the league relegation if im correct ,he was seen as an interim manager but the performance levels upped straight away with carlow dispatched and a good performance against Galway after which john mcintyre said he couldnt believe how good westmeath were seeing as they were relegation fodder in the league. things can change v quick if new managment got quickly

As in record score conceded I meant.
7-31 was the record defeat to Kilkenny.
That was broken today, horrendous stuff. Action will need to be taken and quickly. I agree with the comment about interim manager to replace entire management team.

Players doing the best they can. As was previously said the dynamics on the sideline are off. Strange to say the least. The coach appointment of a former manager hasn't worked and that's the rock he will perish on. May not have been his choice either. Local selectors are good lads in fairness. But I feel all will be gone within the week and it will be the players who will dictate that.

Waiting until after Joe Mcdonagh is not good enough. We need to change now.

Change who? The management or some of the squad? There's quite a few players extremely lucky to be on the panel or getting game time. I'm excusing the younger players learning their trade like Gaffney, Ennis, Williams * 2, Cunneen, blaming the manager is a handy excuse

Management of course and yes the players can give more but I still think the management haven't gotten near the best out of the panel of players that's there. They weren't one bit prepared for this league. Under Joe Fortune I highly highly doubt we would have performed the way we did in this league, in actual fact I'd bank on us staying up.
