Replying To Barrowsider:  "Group stages are now complete in the championships.
Rathvilly eire og and old leighlin and palatine are probably a bit ahead of the rest and we should get two good semi finals from them.
Clonmore and tinryland in the relagation final, would have to fancy clonmore to win that.

Intermediate is shaping up nicely now too. Hard one to call but you would imagine kildavin grange and fenagh and tullow are the front runners.

Junior is tight enough too, leighlin ballon and kilbride look to be a bit ahead of the rest but once you get to knockout anything can happen.

I'll go with rathvilly for senior
Fenagh for Intermediate
Kilbride for junior"
The recent history of the Carlow SFC tells us that teams than look incredibly impressive in their groups tend not to win it. So that means you'd have to fancy Eire Og or Rathvilly this year.

Fenagh or Tullow might well win the IFC rather than Kildavin.

Am surprised you don't mention O'Hanrahan's in the JFC. They beat Asca by more than 20 points - an eye catching scoreline, to say the least. But quite fancy Ballon in that.

Agree.
It's set up for Eire Og, easiest Q/F they could get like last year, to build momentum for bigger challenges ahead..

I thought OL were impressive at the weekend and Mikey Bambrick will take some stopping when he stretches unless teams crowd all the space for him to run into.

I'd love to see Tullow win intermediate. Be great for football in the county to have both Bagenalstown and Tullow playing senior football.

Asca missing 6 players, in fact, their 6 strongest players including their County man and had to draw from the Junior C team to field.

Still have a chance in my eyes

Any idea why they were missing so many?

Holidays and Injuries, all expected back this week for the Q Final

The new regional competition launched by Carlow coaching and games looks to be competitive and exciting, hopefully we will see a good standard of football over the winter. It will also add an incentive to the club championship getting to stand alone and face the rest.

I know it's amateur sport - but always find it weird that lads will train all year and then book holidays during the championship. Which only lasts four weeks for most teams, these days.

As they say in northern England, "there's nowt so queer as folk."

I've seen a big shift in that mindset since covid. Sport is just a hobby now lads don't care deep down as much as they used to. They're probably right too tbh

None sense , in Wicklow/Dublin/Galway players are getting up at the crack of dawn to do sessions at 7 in the morning and another one that night. Probably for the average club player it's a hobby or an escape but for players looking to make county panels it's a lifestyle.

Anyone any views on who could be on-board our new managers "747 on the runway" ?

Taking about Asca who are in the junior footbal championship here. Doubt there's many junior footballers in Wicklow training at 7 in the evening never mind 7 in the morning.

Generally admire and agree with your posts but that one seems a little trivial - and you would be wrong. Several junior club teams and junior teams from senior clubs are putting in the hard yards in their championships that I know of, and that's just the north east of the county.

Did I say teams weren't training hard? The comment was in relation to lads booking holidays during championships which is way more prevalent and lads care way less now if they miss games?

Sure did Éire og Greystones not have a heap of lads away for the first round of the Wicklow senior championship?

He did and it's a total cringe. Said Carlow are like a 747 on the runway just ready to take off. What we're doing with this fella I don't know.

Stupid stuff. was he at eire og game last night? He'll be wondering what have I let myself in for if this is senior quarter final standard. It was truly dreadful.

Rinse and repeat today. Bagenalstown were very poor. Puts old leighlins performance into perspective. Winner will be from EO,RVor PAL. Two totally uneven groups.

Pal being in the relegation final last year slightly skewed the groups along with Tinryland being finalists last year and struggling similarly this year. On the basis of the games this year you'd have to say Clonmore deserve to stay up, you don't always get what you deserve in sport though and Tinryland certainly aren't as bad as they've played in their last two games, I'd absolutely give OL a chance against Rathvilly, EO and Pal is a toss up imo
