It was a great game to watch.
Some terrific scores

Replying To ITSCHOLAR:  "Wasn't at the hurlers game but seems like we lost a point rather than gaining one like we did in Offaly.

Seems to have gone out of the game for a period and antrim capitalized there's never much between these two teams when they play and games are always top notch to be fair.

Hopefully we can get something from Dublin game next week would have taken 4 points out of 6 to start the league."
To be honest it was a fair result.

Antrim dominated the second half and missed a penalty. hit the post and had two fresh air pulls in front of goal

We were very good in the second part of the first half but went out of it in the second half. Antrim half back line were very strong and bossed possession.

Our full back line was excellent as was Chris, Mouse and James Doyle. John Doyle caught some good ball too.

The team looked a bit off after the long break without a match .

Win next week against Dublin and it's hunt for promotion, lose and it's one more point to be safe.

That's it a fair summary.

Some of the scores Carlow got today especially in that purple patch streak before half time were breathtaking. The three you mentioned, Mouse, Chris and James Doyle are truly brilliant hurlers and others like Dion Wall to name but one are up there too. This really is a golden era of Carlow hurling, the best in 60 years since the days of beating Cork with Ring playing.

It feels like a defeat the way it ended today but the reality is now promotion is still in our hands. We have three games left and win them and we're up. Wins v Leix and Westmeath are definitely achievable, without being easy, but the real make or break game is next Saturday evening in Parnell Park. A huge ask to win there especially as Dublin are getting their stars back each game. If not at least todays point means we should be safe enough from relegation with one more point needed to be sure of staying up.

This is a bit mad I'm afraid Carlow friends.

Basically: Co chairman asks outgoing manager Niall Carew to ring around a few mates to see would anyone take the Carlow senior football manager job.

Carew rings around, gets to Shane Curran. Would you take it Shane? Carew tells Carlow chairman to ring Curran.

Carlow chairman rings Shane Curran. Begs him to take Carlow job. So enthusiastic. Shane says yes.

I'm not a Carlow man, but I think this is no way to conduct the manager search for the biggest (along with senior hurling) job in your county or any county.

Does the board not have a responsibility to advertise the role. Conduct interviews. Do their homework on candidates. Try to find the best manager they can.

Instead of getting the outgoing manager (who didn't do great) to ring around his mates. I'd say the brief was purely to find someone who has been on tv or radio, people know the name, and that he's managed a bit.

Maybe Curran will be great and maybe he won't, but surely conducting a fair and transparent manager search would have led to getting the best person for the job."
Sounds like it's not going so well folks?

Hard one to take for the hurlers. Had that game won & with the last puck of the ball Antrim get a goal. How it went past so many players I don't know. The Antrim player seemed to miss hit it too.

We should have been further ahead at the end but we missed a few chances in 2nd half & unsuccessfully went for goals on a couple of occasions when handy points were on offer. Yes Antrim missed chances & we saved a penalty but having lead from the middle of the 1st half right up to the last puck it's very disappointing.

I felt the ref was very harsh on us & a number of times he waved play on when carlow players had Antrim men holding their hurls or arms. Was very frustrating. Did anyone notice that Davy Fitz waited in the middle of the pitch at the start of the 2nd half to have a word with the ref but the ref wouldn't come over to him.

Promotion still possible but getting the points to stay up now is so important. We don't want a situation where we lose to Laois as they could pip us on the head to head rule. The lads were definitely very rusty after no game for a few weeks so hopefully this will bring them on for the Dublin game

I think Davy was complaining that Antrim were out waiting and Carlow were not back out on the pitch.

Would one point def be enough to stay up? Laois can potentially get 8 points

This is a very accurate summary of what I saw. Definitely could have taken a few points instead of going for goals when well ahead. I would just add that Kevin McDonald, Chris Nolan and Ciaran Whelan played very well.

Not definitely but 5 should be enough. Antrim can only get to 5 points max and on have very bad scoring difference so even if we lost two of our three matches we'd be unlikely to be overtaken on scores if finishing level level with Antrim on 5.

Yes Laois can finish on 8 points but that would mean they have beaten Antrim which would leave them on 3 points so can't overtake us. So a Laois win over Antrim would have us safe unless of course Westmeath beat Waterford & Carlow & pip us on the head to head if we lost our games against Laois & Dublin. We have 3 games to get a result so it's well within our own hands

A point lost today I reckon. Antrim had a lot of wides and perhaps it was a fair result at the end of the day but to be leading well and missing a few chances in the second half and then to concede a last second goal must be hard for the team to take.
Yes they were rusty but I expect a really rousing game against the Dubs next Saturday.after todays match.and the.way it panned out.
