Disappointing to hear a number of Carlow players have dropped off the panel. Especially with the league season only 4 games in.

Did anyone hear any names? Fringe or starting players?

On the point of Cake selecting a panel of upwards of 32/33 players. Would smaller counties not be better off working alongside their u20s and picking a smaller senior panel as a result?

I'd imagine like Laois at this stage, once you get past number 19/20 on the panel there are lads on the panel who will never get within an ass's roar of a starting 15. I mean if your the senior manager and you need training players, why not expose your u20s to it as opposed to calling in players in their mid to late 20s who are nowhere the standard required.

Sadly the rumours are true. Not going to name lads on here as it's no fair, but it does seem to be a real s***show in there

This probably a shorthall moment for those who remember that brief reign. Totally predictable from the start.

You did call it barrowsider in fairness. I was hoping you were wrong but not at all surprised. The trouble is we haven't got a very dynamic county board so I reckon we're stuck with this shambles for the year.

Reminiscent of Mickser Condon's reign, if true.

It's really disappointing to read that we have lost panel players. But in my opinion it's not a surprise. I say that because if you have a panel of 39 then surely it's almost impossible to have fellas feel left out as you cannot play them all.
Looking at the hurlers- it's so seldom that fellas leave ir drop off.
Hard to figure it out to be honest.
Giving the county board a whacking is nonsensical as what can they actually do if players decide they have had enough!
Players have left for all sorts of reasons and there is little anyone can do about it unfortunately

Sad too that these players are highly unlikely to come back in again in the future.
As.for underage players joining - I think they should stay with their own age groups. The jump for.most pplayers from underage to seniorn is huge and.most are not aable to bridge it in a short time.

At least during the Andy Shorthall reign in 2007, division's 3 & 4 were split in to 2 groups of 8 so we played better opposition who wouldn't normally be in the basement tier Monaghan, Roscommon and Clare, now they are getting hammered by fellow division 4 teams.

During the Mick Condon reign we had a championship win against Wicklow that year, but the Shane Curran regime seems to be a demolition job from the get go.

3 Grange players have left, 2 Eire Og, 2 Palatine, 2 Bagenalstown, 1 from Graiguecullen, and possibly more? And a selector.

As others have said, surely it's time to pull the plug otherwise we will have to field an u20 team for The Tailteann cup.

Replying To Overthebar53:  "Maybe better in the long term to lance the boil now. Several people here were always very dubious about this appointment and it appears they have been proven correct albeit earlier than even the most pessimistic of us expected. If these rumours are even partially true it's time to end this charade and try and get someone genuine in for championship/tailteann cup."
Absolutely spot on OTB. This has been a charade from the start even with the most optimistic of Carlow fans. They need to stop the bleeding now before more players walk away. And it's not than 3 that have walked seemingly.

You did call this early to be fair to you. Seems your predictions came true unfortunately.

Whilst the football is in tatters again
Our hurlers continue to operate at a high level
It's also great to see Carlow Town becoming a Force at under age in the county.
That can only be positive.
Looking forward to game on Sunday

It doesn't give me any great pleasure to be right and I think looking back at the comments I definitely wasn't the only one to predict it. I'm an old cynic at this stage

I've said it many times before but the whole thing from 14s up needs to be dismantled and rebuilt with people who actually have a passion for Carlow football.

Just seen the team for V Wicklow
Can see Lee Walker and Darragh o Brien are missing and Sean Murphy is a sub.
And Ross Dunphy is back in starting fifteen
Can't work out who the other missing players are.

Shane Clarke … major loss coming into a period of drying ground when his pace will be missed. Grange lads seem to be all gone too. Not surprised Darragh O'Brien is gone the way they messed him around last week.

Tomorrow is all about the hurlers anyway. Huge swing game ahead. Hopefully they can finally nail Antrim who we owe big time (and none more so than Chris) and set themselves up for a real go at promotion which if it happened would be probably the greatest achievement of any Carlow inter county team since the leister senior football winning side. To be in the top seven in the country, in league anyway, would be remarkable for a county our size but it is very achievable.

Will be tough going tomorrow. I'm confident we'll win if we play to form but never easy against Antrim regardless how they've been going. Hopefully Carlow people will come out in numbers to support the lads.

Wasn't at the hurlers game but seems like we lost a point rather than gaining one like we did in Offaly.

Seems to have gone out of the game for a period and antrim capitalized there's never much between these two teams when they play and games are always top notch to be fair.

Hopefully we can get something from Dublin game next week would have taken 4 points out of 6 to start the league.
