Replying To joeman123:  "Ah Come on Square D why can't you say something positive about this very young team who ran themselves into the ground with a gusty display.

Well done to the management too.Considering all the negative publicity and public ridicule over the last few weeks, they had a very motivated well drilled team on the pitch."
Joe I know you are mad to loose the run of yourself but the reality is that Barry McNulty scored 8 points... out of a total of 13. Barry is a fantastic player, we all knew that already but this says more about where Mayo is at, at the moment. People have short memories... 5 years ago Mayo came to Carrick and won by 10... granted conditions were worse. I'm glad that it wasn't a heavy beating as that does nothing for anyone. Let's see what the Tailteann brings, back it up with a few wins & performances against teams at our level and we'll talk.

Replying To Willies24:  "A plan???? Sitting inside our 45 for the whole of the second half and not attempting to go and try to win the game! Shambles against a team that were so poor on the day. The ref gave us every 50/50 decision going. The kickout plan, kick it down the middle and hope to god Barry Mc wins it. When Mayo got to grips with it in the second half we had no variation.
We have some stand out players. Let's hope a new manager can get more out of them next year."
Jesus I think that's very harsh. You have to remember ye played a team in division 1 final a few weeks ago and gave them plenty to think about. Ye have some brilliant footballers and definitely can make progress in time. Them Leitrim players deserve savage credit

Insane as it may sound to say but a bit more composure up front and we could have pulled off a major shock today. A couple of goal chances spurned and some very kickable scores missed , particularly in the first half. Came out of nowhere that performance overall.

Exactly. That's a proper post and id say a very proud Leitrim man

While lots of problems remain in Leitrim football , in fairness that was a very credible performance today considering what's gone on all year. Every lad put in a huge shift and Barry McNulty was outstanding. I'm happy it wasn't the massacre I predicted hopefully that performance will lift us to give the Tailteann cup a decent shot that's the challenge now for this group.

There is no. comparison in the two performances.

I agree with you re the dependence on Barry McNulty. However the display of the backs was very impressive.
The kick outs were too predictable and if we had won more of them who knows what would have happened.

My ask to you is "stop the negative crap which you are always on about"

One 'performance' and you're mad to loose the run of yourself. Christ it's laughable. Ask yourself the question why did we not see this during the league? As I've said, we'll see how the Tailteann goes, lads should be taking it very seriously from here on out.

Yes a plan against Div 1 finalist as before that game had lost to Div 3 opposition in Kildare,Laois and Sligo by 20 plus points. Give the credit where it's due than your ridiculous negative slant post

Correct me if I'm wrong but we have the youngest average squad age in the country by an absolute country mile.

Seen Poacher interviewed after the game and he said that when he seen 18 year old Eanna McNamara throwing Aidan o'Shea over the sideline, and 21 yr old Barry McNulty dominating a NFL division 1 midfield, cox and prior holding their own scoring away then you know you got some special players.

And in fairness they seemed special players today.
Well done Leitrim and Poacher.

I'll stab a guess (some I'm guessing on) at these ages of the team that was named to start against mayo. I know I may be way out on some - so don't go too hard on me where I went wrong.

1. O'Shea - 27
2. Clancy - 23
3. Casey - 25
4. McNamara -18
5. Rooney- 29
6. Diffley - 26
7. Foley - 21
8. McNulty - 21
9. McGloin - 27
10. Flynn - 20
11. Keegan - 26
12.Honeyman -19
13. Cox - 20
14. O'Rourke - 22
15. Prior - 22

Average age : 23.01 yrs

Can others in the know correct where I went wrong and correct.

Extremely young team. Well done Leitrim

That was a really good person from ye today. I felt at half time the game was there for ye if everything went right. A couple of mistakes cost ye but a very credible showing. Very well prepared team

Fair play to you for paying or going to the pub to watch Mayo v Leitrim.
We're in the final, that's all that counts

Well I know where Mayo are at and that's why I knew what would happen today. We always play to the level of our opponents (no offence). Best of luck to Leitrim going forward, I sometimes work in yer county. Great people but in the words of a Leitrim colleague, football can be toxic.

We cant get carried away with the performance but we will take something from it. Mayo must have done a block of training the last two weeks, there was no pace, no intensity from them at all, compared to the cork kerry game the speed of the game was chalk and cheese. But you know we actually could've won the game if we took our goal chances. But as one poster said we will have to see how the tailteann cup goes before we can move Poacher any kudos. Mayo didn't even want to be there yesterday and just got the job done. The 2 pointers is a decent leveller two instead of Barry just kicking 3 points he had 6got from 2 pointers. See how tailteann goes, great to have Donal Casey back in the fold aswell. He's a class act
