Congrats to S.O.H ladies, great day for them, what a way to win a semi final with the last kick of the game. Best of luck in the final, all of leitrim is behind you.

Replying To ThePowerhouse:  "And unless it's at the very top level, hurling is a hard watch. Bunches of lads hacking at the ball on the ground. I'd genuinely watch junior c football than that."
It's the complete opposite really, hurling is a wonderful sport to watch most of the time but some of the lower tiered games are very competitive and have fantastic shootouts and high scoring games that are often absent in high level hurling contests.
Hurling at all levels requires a high standard of skill, football nowadays, even at the highest level is more about strength and fitness than about skill or creativity.

Replying To 3rdmidfielder:  "Everything comes back to money, some of the hurlers wouldn't be at it unless they were getting getting well looked with travel expenses etc. That's a fact.

If Leitrim as a county had pride in hurling there would be more than two clubs playing it. And we would be getting lads from other counties to play for us.

I'm just giving my honest opinion I'm not looking to change anyone's mind.

The proposal will be withdrawn or defeated anyway, but the problem with the cost of running a hurling team that there is very little interest will be kicked down the line and it will affect funds being used to develop a proper underage structure to produce future county footballers."
Fair point.
Your footballers almost never achieve anything and very few people anywhere else have any interest in what's happening in Leitrim football.
We, on the other hand, came within 5 points of being all Ireland champions 2 years ago, and if only little counties like ye would just go away and leave us your money and one or two of your better players we might have won the flippin thing.

Yeah well done Galway with a population of 258k. Compared to the smallest population in Ireland

Things must be tight. I see ye are on the beg from Leinster Council, looking for 400k every year for the next five years? Look see how ye get on there first. You don't need to worry about the Leitrim Footballers or Hurlers.

Love the sarcasm lol

At least the hurlers have an national championship title which can't be said of the footballers. We need help to promote Hurling in the county but we're in no position to be snobbish about as if we're world beaters at football.

Great start to Div 4 with possible 2 wins against Waterford & London followed by the 'revenge' game against Wexford. Waiting to see Andy's squad/ will there be new names & return of 6 injured players? Good luck lads

Looking at the fixtures it's top heavy. Been realistic we will have to win win the first 4 games to have a chance. I don't see us beating all 3 teams of Longford & Laois away and tipp at home on the last day. Best case scenario is we bring it to the last day against tipp in a straight shoot out and hope that home advantage might give us a small advantage. It's a huge ask and depends how you look at it but I have a feeling having the 3 big teams last is a disadvantage as you will most likely have injuries picked up at that stage as well.

I think it's a very very difficult draw for you. 4 away games. I imagine Laois, Longford and Tipp will be favourite to battle it out for the top 2 places with yourselves as the dark horse. You probably have to win 6 out of the 7 games to be sure of promotion. Huge ask, I wish you luck.

I see Ryan O Rourke posting video for 50 mile challenge. Bodes well for his participation with the squad this year despite what many of the Anti Andy brigade have been saying.

Why overhype Laois & Tipperary for promotion. The former have lost 3 first choice players- we beat them last season while Tipp are not the force they were. Longford/Leitrim derbies are usually close our last encounter was played in atrocious weather & we kicked it away. Oh ye of little faith-toughest game will be Wexford.as for our prospects it depends on Our squad. We could be losing some players & Keith Beirne's loss is incalculable although return of the O'Rourke cousins a major plus while I'm hoping Mohills Sean Harkin will feature.

Any word on club managers?

Mohill, Aughawillan, Ballinamore, Aughnasheelin and Manor are all on the hunt for managers from what I know. That's just at senior level from this year. Many of those clubs will be trying to source a manager from the same merry go round of managers aswell.

Ciaran Kennedy and Danny Beck are taking over Leitrim Gaels which seems like a shrewd appointment.

Between the lack of coaching education and coaches being produced by Leitrim Clubs I think it's going to be extremely hard for clubs to get anyone half decent which will once again effect the overall standard of football in the county along with emigration.

Word is that emigration is again tearing teams apart. Aughnasheelin are going to really struggle. Whilst Drumreilly could be on the brink of folding.
County Board are really going to have to stand up over the next few years when amalgamations are happening as they can become a mess if not handled correctly.

Keith Beirne is back in on a trial basis. He's not training with the team but doing his own gym and running sessions at the center of mediocrity.

only appointment I've heard is Bornacoola appointing some guy from Longford.

a lot of vacancies but the Leitrim Gaels appointment is a good one i reckon.

i really hope Drumreilly don't go to the wall, it'd be a shame to lose them or any other club but the numbers game for clubs is the stark reality on the horizon.

Hynes gone from Gortletteragh.

Ciaran Kennedy and Beck to Leitrim Gaels seems a good appointment. They done well in Roscommon winning a Junior league and championship I believe. Also they have experience in winning senior championships as players. It's a big step up from Junior football though.
