I didn't see Roscommon Gaels result as being a surprise at all. Brigids have far greater strength across every line and with nugent on song they were a joy to watch. That saying I still hope Boyle or faighleaths win because they don't import players such as the Gaels and Brigids to get to the next level, certainly did the Gaels no favours.

Doms were doomed the minute Jack Lohan got injured who's a fantastic leader for them, however western Gaels were by far the greater team throughout and must have missed 7 points and a great goal chance by Cathal cregg in the opening 20 mins. Seanie Mac was so clever with his carrying of the ball and ability to get past a man and gain a scorable free. Kevin Higgins was the game changer though. He ate Dominic's alive winning ball and their youth really showed as they basically bounced off him.

Strokestown into the last 4 of the intermediate championship, a Mis-match as they won by 15.

Probably would have expected to play Tulsk in semi final but not so as a mini shock with Fuerty winning by 3 points in a low scoring contest.

Replying To The_analyser:  "I think it's more a Roscommon Gaels issue and not been able to be competitive against Brigids. Before Dowd they had Frankie Dolan as manager and were knocked out of the championship by Brigids by a margin of 15 points.

Glaveys in the previous game beat Brigids with a solid defensive effort and used their pace on the counter, Iain Daly their manager will be part of Dowds Roscommon management next year."
I think people over estimate the effect the coach has on teams. Ultimately it's down to the players to play and 95% of the time the team with the best players will win. I'm not sure mark dowd is to blame for Roscommon Gaels being poor nor do I think you can credit any coach or manager with Brigids improved showing . Ultimately it's players

I don't see the outrage in importing of Conor Carroll compared with some other transfers. He plays for the county team so makes sense for him to play in the county. He's given up a chance to be the Galway goalie...potentially challenging for an All Ireland. So why not play for a good senior club if going to a Ros club.

Not in keeping with ethos of GAA.
No connection with Brigids.
Father Kilmore, mother from round Athleague.

Sure if that's the case we shouldn't have tried to get him to play for the county. A position that Galway have been struggling with. He could have been in their teams that have got to All Irelands and along with missing that he should play intermediate as well.

Not the same.
Both his parents are from Co. Roscommon.

You're making absolutely no sense. He is entitled to lay for Roscommon as his parents are Rossies
And he wasn't being considered for Galway. Brigids lost all Ireland as the missing piece was their keeper. Two years later and what happens…. Should have joined Kilmore or Fuerty.

The Gaels are the same. Kilbride lose out on their best player and are struggling to stay intermediate . What's happened to sticking with the club through good times and bad.

Why was Conor Cox made play with Eire Og then when there was a number of senior clubs making offers to him?

Some game in Enfield. Boyle will be kicking themselves for some time as were 7 points ahead with 5 minutes of normal time to play, poor game management not to close it out on Pearses from that postion.

Pearses to their credit showed why they are defending champions Paul Carey once more stepped up with three two pointers from play and Jack Tumulty brought the game to extra time with the last action.

Pearses had all the momentum then and really kicked on in extra time to win by 5 points. Into the semi final and real battle hardened after back to back extra time wins.

What a game, pearces are never beaten till the final whistle. Boyle main men didn't step up today and their lack of two pointers and the inability not to maintain possession at the end was the height stupidity. With N Daly slowly coming back for pearces will be an added bonus going into the semi finals

He played with the club his father played for. He has to be admired for it too and has made a real
Contribution to them. It would be great if they won an intermediate

Éire Óg eased past Brigids B and Michael did likewise against Tulsk.

Fuerty v Strokestown and Michaels v Éire Óg the last 4 line up in the intermediate championship.

Michael Glaveys with a one point lead at half time against Faithleachs.

Faithleachs 1-20 to 1-18 winners the Murtaghs found their range with the wind advantage to reach back to back semi finals. Hard luck to Glaveys who played their part in a good game.

Faithleachs v Pádraig Pearses and Clann na nGael V St Brigids is the semi finals.

Boyle very disappointing. Smith had a chance in normal time to kill the game from 21 yards , fluffed his shot into the Pearses keepers hands . Pearses break up the field for equaliser and the rest is history. The language and antics of the Boyle manager was shocking again. Pearses back on track and can't see them losing to Faithleachs. Clann were workmanlike and will test Brigids. There has to be some hunger in Clann after some barren years and nothing like a Brigids jersey to get them going . Brigids still strong favourites though

Boyle will be sick tonight.
Why am I not surprised to hear their manager was antics!
Some good standard of football all round .

Sure what difference does that make? Sure if that was the case plenty of Dublin players would have been playing inter county elsewhere. Aidan O Shea would be playing for Kerry. Rob Finnerty would be playing for Mayo.

Of course he's entitled and I'm delighted he chose Roscommon. But what I don't understand is the gripe that he has decided to play with Brigids. He's already sacrificed the potential to play for a county operating at a higher level to Roscommon and who have had serious goalkeeping issues. Are you telling me that if he didn't transfer to Roscommon, Joyce wouldn't have given him a chance in goal after playing under him for the U20s?

Well it's unfair if there is inconsistency.

Missed a cracker unfortunately. Pearses probably delighted to get a crack at Faithleachs again. If Pearses make the final it will be some battle regardless of who wins the other semi. Has the window of opportunity closed for Boyle now?
