What was "The language and antics of the Boyle manager was shocking again."? I missed that, although I'm not surprised considering the individual in question. What were the antics and what was said? And to whom? Yvrjd (Galway) - Posts: 19 - 21/09/2025 21:32:41 2636982 Link 0 |
Think you were getting a bit too excited oflver Glaveys beating Brigids in meaningless game.

Still reached the semi-final last year and were a kick of a ball from doing so again which isn't bad for a fairy unfancied team. Brigid's are beatable but not the way Roscommon Gaels chose to play against them, the defending champions are still there and will be less written off now after taking out a very fancied Boyle. They'll beat clann by about 12 then they'll beat pearses by about 8 Michaelbeag (Roscommon) - Posts: 29 - 22/09/2025 14:32:56 2637069 Link 0 |
Out of interest why do some Roscommon people such as this post show a lack of respect to Padraig Pearses? It's not like they haven't earned respect with winning a few County titles and won Connacht in recent years. I was in attendance to see them deservedly take out the best in Galway recently also. Should it be a Brigids v Pearses final it will likely be a fine margin contest and the winner a strong challenger to win Connacht. Not firing on all cylinders yet but think Brigids would much rather have played Boyle in the final than Pearses.

Absolutely, still don't think Brigids would beat Boyle by 8 either.

Its an opinion same as what is put up for predict scores and margins on many of the county and club games. In my opinion these are the scores i think they will win by I probably will be wrong. I am basing it on I believe after watching them on Friday night they on a decent pitch will score 2 19 and more against the the teams remaining and i believe neither will get more than 1 15 I base this on them getting 1 18 against what was a poor gaels team but definsively 1 to 9 as good and a lot better than some of the 3 remaining semifinalists. That is my opinion could and probably will be wrong but there you go. Michaelbeag (Roscommon) - Posts: 29 - 23/09/2025 11:36:21 2637173 Link 0 |
Big weekend of football coming up 4th/5th October. I see access to hurling Final is Athlone Road side only. Is there work going on or is it just to reduce need for stewards and gate people? Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 151 - 24/09/2025 11:40:31 2637286 Link 0 |
What will the expected attendance be? Under 1000 or more?

The latter. Interesting the county board opted against hosting the senior semi-finals in Hyde Park. Brigid's I expect to go on to win County title now. Like any good team they learnt a lot from that defeat against Glaveys. Ben O'Carroll has found his form again and while it would be foolish to write off the defending champions Pearses it's been a real struggle to retain the county title in recent years due to the competitive nature of out Premier championship. In the Intermediate championship Strokestown laid down a marker at weekend without Shane McGinley who was out with a hamstring injury, finalists last year and now looking to go one better. Fuerty should ask a few questions of them before that. Michaels progress has caught the eye the Henry brothers are in top form but Éire Og probably a bridge to far for them? Conor Cox certainly enjoying the new rules with 0-47 to his name in 4 games. Will he carry on with Roscommon for another year? Croans remain the strong favourites for the Junior championship it was poor how they allowed themselves to drop down will be worse if they don't bounce straight back. Paul Carey & Declan Kenny prob been the best 2 players in Roscommon the past 2 years surely will start this year. Huge difference in Brigids playing style between Glaveys and Gaels games. Went from slow play and no pressure to really fast attack and tackling higher but if they don't show up again clann could catch them too. Pearses are battled hardened and have gone to the well a few times now and will want to avoid it again with faithleachs to be ready for the final. rossie4sam (Roscommon) - Posts: 36 - 24/09/2025 19:25:05 2637340 Link 0 |
I see we're on the win a home trail again. Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 151 - 26/09/2025 15:36:50 2637563 Link 0 |
Wasn't the same energy or interest in the Kildare home as was for the previous draws for homes in Dublin,London. Then again 20 euro a ticket this time should be more appealing than a set 100 euro price. Best of luck to club rossie in their latest fundraising effort.

I appreciate the enormous costs involved in the centre of excellence but how much more do they need. Have they not got a substantial grant and fundraising for the past ten years. It mightn't be a bad idea to start the bloody thing and progress it over a period of time like Bekan.

How come we get the full management team with the hurling and nothing with the football? rossie4sam (Roscommon) - Posts: 36 - 26/09/2025 19:21:16 2637592 Link 0 |
Four Roads probably will have too much for Oran tomorrow. Although wouldn't be surprised if Oran rattle them, the fact that it's in the Hyde means advantage Four Roads. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 398 - 27/09/2025 09:05:37 2637614 Link 0 |
Seems like a good appointment. I wonder will he be able to entice more players from the clubs to join the Senior panel next year? A very poor representation from some clubs last year, particularly Tremane and Dominics. How many outside players can he call in after going up to Christy Ring next year? Be great to see the hurlers progressing.

Four roads champions again, competitive 1st half as they led 0-10 to 0-8. Oran best hope of causing upset was doing all they could from conceding goals yet conceded two in 5 minutes and was contest basically won at that stage and in the end they ran out nine point winners.
