Replying To letsgetgoing:  "UCD very lucky to win the Sigerson cup semi final against TU Dublin tonight who were without their best player Colm Basquel. Very poor shot selection and application by both sets of forwards resulted in a very low scoring game which ended 1-7 (UCD) to 0-10 (TUD) after extra time. (Only 5 points each after full time)

After 5 penalties each it was 3-3 and went to sudden death. After 8 penalties each, UCD won it 5-4 with a Ben O' Carroll penalty. (He had missed an earlier one!)
Daire Cregg played the full 60 minutes but did not reappear in extra time and did not take a penalty. Ben O Carroll came on at half time and also played the full extra time. Neither player were on top form and could do with a break.

Hopefully Daire is not injured or carrying an injury as he has looked a tired player recently.
The Sigerson Cup final is scheduled for next Wednesday, so I can't really see either player starting against Monaghan who also have a couple of UCD players.

I doubt Ulster University or DCU who play tomorrow night will be shaking in their boots after tonight's match."
Agree on Daire, I think only bring him on vs Monaghan if we need to and hopefully we can give him a rest vs Westmeath Cavan etc. I'd like to see Senan Lambe given a start against Monaghan as a game like that will be where we see it lads are up to it.

Daire Cregg pulled up with an injury on 48 minutes and was subbed off sooner after. Probably won't play the final next Wednesday and doubtful for the Monaghan match. Such a poor game where both teams left their shooting boots at home and whoever won was going to be lucky but UCD the most lucky considering they got a goal from point effort that the TU Dublin keeper dropped into the net

Very poor game last night. Looked like nerves got the better of some of these lads. Cregg kicked good score early on but didn't do much after that. It was a defenders game last night. Ben got on some ball and snatched at a couple of shots one he dropped short and probably should be scoring. As long as they stay injury free Il be happy and if I was burke I probably wouldnt start either of them against Monaghan

DCU 4 point winners after extra time against defending Sigerson Cup champions UU. All Dublin college final next Wednesday in the Connacht COE. That final means All Ireland college medal will be coming back to Roscommon. Eoin Ward (Fuerty) Jack Tumulty (Padraig Pearses) Luke Glennon (Boyle) Tomas Crean (Creggs) Sean Moran (St Michaels) if DCU win and Daire Cregg (Boyle) Ben O'Carroll (Brigids) Oisin Cregg (Boyle) Bobby Nugent (Brigids) should UCD win. Great for the players and their clubs.

Congrats to Roscommon on changing from a black faced sheep to a white faced one. It should give the county a great boost for the relegation battle

Think he meant good luck in our promotion battle this year.

The black faced one is for sale if Leitrim are interested. Going to need all the help they can get if the visit to division 3 is not going to be a short one.Ros for promotion and Connacht this year. Nothing sheepish about that.

Decent All Roscommon Connacht B Final in Enfield this afternoon. Underdogs Scoil Mhuire Strokestown led by one at half time but Roscommon CBS better bench played a big part in them prevailing by 4 point winners.

I believe 8 on this years county minors was among the two teams plus a few of 2024 county minors in action so will be interesting to see how those players go on and develop in the years ahead, plenty of raw talent there within the county now but needs to be nurtured.

Any update on Daire Cregg coming off last week for UCD? Don't think him or Ben will start Sunday nor should they, both should be minded as much as possible. Any pearses lads expected back yet? Should be a great crowd in The Hyde, Monaghan good supporters.

Haven't heard anything at all on cregg. We will know tomorrow evening anyway what the story is

Both lads will want to forget tonight's game that's for sure! But better it was in the blue of UCD then promise and blue of Ros! Wouldn't start either Sunday daire doesn't look 100% and Ben was forcing things a lot.

UCD very poor tonight. Ben and Daire couldn't get going at all. Ben will need time to get back to his best but dropped a few balls short again tonight. Daire just doesn't look right at the minute but hopefully he gets weekend off and comes back stronger. We done to DCU and the Roscommon lads involved.

Both left their shooting boots at home. UCD the best team by a distance, good in defence, midfield which included the MOTM and scored 1-16 from 24 shots which is the type of accuracy that normally wins most games.

DCU were the best team tonight and clearly deserved their win by 1-16 to 3-6. Difficult night for both Ben and Daire.
Congratulation to Luke Glennon, Eoin Ward, Jack Tumulty and Tomas Crean on winning Sigerson medals which is a great achievement.

One quick observation would be the talent coming through once again in Dublin. Man of the match was Ethan Dunne (1-2) from Skerries Harps as was his midfield partner the very mobile Greg McEnaney (0-1). Skerries Harps had Killian McGinnis on the TUD team last year who is now playing for Dublin. 3 possible senior midfielders from Skerries Harps alone!

DCU by a distance the better team 17 scores to 9. They also played a lot better in their semi final than UCD. Well done Jack Tumulty, Tomás Crean,, Eoin Ward and Luke Glennon on winning Sigerson Cup medals.

Not to be for Bobby, Nugent, Oisín Cregg, Ben O'Carroll, Daire Cregg. The latter two will certainly be left frustrated on a night where little or nothing went right for them

Hopefully both will be given a rest or be used sparingly in the upcoming 3 game package.

The next two weekends will tell us a lot about where we are. In reality we need to improve to win the next two games. Defensively haven't been very good and better teams will punish us. I'm not convinced by playing stack at 5 don't think he's added anything. I would have him at full back or center back. Are the Pearces players back this weekend. Think we need one or two of the dalys to sort out how easy down and louth ran through us

The good news is Ronan and Niall Daly are on the way back, both played in a mainly 2nd string Roscommon team against Mayo in a challenge last weekend. Cathal Heneghan also got some minutes.

Some bad news is we have lost one of our most important players to a spell on the sidelines, won't mention his name yet as I would expect management to still name him on the published team tomorrow night and not let Monaghan know until close to throw in that he's out. We'll hopefully get by in a meantime and do enough to get over the line this Sunday in what I expect to be a high scoring highly competitive encounter.
