Job done 4 points from 2 games and we were never going to get any easy in Drogheda. Slightly annoyed not to close the game out better when 8 ahead but credit to Louth battling to the end.

Both Murtaghs good, Donie worked his socks off, Doyle much improved on last week. Newbies Near,Frost showing well. Daire will have better days.

Monaghan home in two weeks a top of the table clash looking forward to it already

Good win but Louth missed a host of chances. Colm Neary was man of the match for me with the Murtaghs (10 points between them) and Keith Doyle also performing well. Big match coming against Monaghan.

Frustrating watch felt like we should've closed that game out a number of times- still two from two I guess !
Anyone there have an opinion on Conor coxs last point from where we stood looked a definite two pointer

I suppose the result is the most important thing but that game should have been closed out after the lead we had. Lucky Mulroy missed two efforts for 2 pointers, which I think the whole ground expected him to nail. I also think we benefited from a referee mistake when he allowed Diarmuid take the free just before half time from outside the arc. I'm open to correction but I thought if a foul occurred inside the arc, it couldn't be brought outside? Only frees brought forward for dissent etc can be brought back outside? I noticed the linesman talking to our forwards at beginning of 2nd half and seemed to be explaining something to them, and Louth didn't move 2 of their 2nd half frees outside despite them being only a few yards inside the arc.
Anyway, I thought Keith Doyle was superb, his fielding ability is something we have needed for a long time so hopefully he stays fit and available. Neary also very good, carried some amount of ball. 2 Murtaghs of course were very good.
We are still slow in attack, I feel we don't run direct at teams enough, we carry into the attacking 3rd and probe for an opening. Louth were very good at attacking us with direct hard running, I'd love to see more of that from us as we have the players.
Overall, have to be happy, a win away to a very good tea, a team that will have an eye on promotion too is a good result. Massive game in The Hyde in 2 weeks, another huge challenge. If we can get over that, we are in a very good place

Saw on another forum a Louth hand might have touched it.

In Local our newspapers before the game three pundits/journalists predicted a narrow for Roscommon. Ian Cooney sat on the fence and said it would be a draw. The prediction model on boards.ie also had the game marked down as a draw. Stats and solo prediction model on twitter was spot on with a two win for Roscommon.

On here 90 predictions. 17 posters thought Louth would win. 9 went for a draw and 64 correctly went for a Roscommon win with the average winning margin by 3 points.

I thought we did well yesterday at times. We are nowhere near our best. Our back 6 is very new in terms of playing together but Colm Neary is bloody outstanding and I suppose we all know how good he is but to come into the team and be man of the match twice in my eyes is unbelievable. When we get the Pearces lads back it's going to be crazy the strength and depth we have. I think teams are getting through us fairly easily so to have one or two dalys back would be great. Is cahal heneghan involved this year?? Two Murtaghs very good as usual Ciaran Murtagh is just class he would make any starting team in the country and that's a fact. He's just such an intelligent player. Monaghan next and id imagine we will be a lot sharper and organized by then.

Whoever wins the Roscommon v Monaghan match has a great chance of reaching the division 2 final and getting promotion so hopefully the team will have lots of support for the match. While not getting ahead of ourselves it's important to sometimes focus on the positives rather that the negatives:
* Colm Neary playing out of his skin and a great addition to the panel.
* Great to have Ciaran Murtagh back as he is one of the best kick passers in the game and always seems to make the right decision.
* Keith Doyle has bulked up and is playing well. The new rules are good for him as there is much more contested long kickouts. Good to have Eddie Nolan back too around the middle as well.
* Ben O' Carroll getting back to speed
* Pearses lads still to come back.
* 4 points out of 4 and some winnable games (one would think) to come.

The championship is obviously the big goal this year but promotion to devision 1 is also important. As we play London the week after the league finals, (if we get there) winning devision 2 would not be the priority.

Still a lot of improvement required, particularly in defence before we might play the likes of Galway in the Connacht Championship but a good start with several new players being givin game time.

Good to see so many Roscommon supporters made the trip to Louth.

We had a fine turnout alright.
Navan and Mullingar should see the same.
Many going to Cork?
Will be an overnight job.

Four points, some additions in the backline and the returning lads doing well ticks plenty of boxes so far. Obviously would like to concede less but hopefully when we get the Pearses lads back and get a bit more used to the rules / new lads integrated we can be more sound defensively. Murtaghs both playing very well and their consistency is so important to us this year. Doyle could have the massive year that we have been hoping for since he first caught our eye at underage. Neary is a huge plus and is exactly what we needed. Any update on Conor Daly, Declan Kenny or Cathal Heneghan? Ronan will be a good addition to the half back line and of course Niall will have a part to play as always. Cregg and O Carroll in action tomorrow for UCD and if they win will be out again next Wednesday so if this is the case wouldn't expect either to start vs Monaghan which is no harm two brilliant subs to have. Wouldn't mind seeing Senan Lambe given a start at some stage I think he has plenty to offer.

Div 2 more than other Division seems to be very offensive focus leading to high scores and both ends perhaps things will settle down once promotion spots are in sight and others are looking to avoid relegation?

UCD very lucky to win the Sigerson cup semi final against TU Dublin tonight who were without their best player Colm Basquel. Very poor shot selection and application by both sets of forwards resulted in a very low scoring game which ended 1-7 (UCD) to 0-10 (TUD) after extra time. (Only 5 points each after full time)

After 5 penalties each it was 3-3 and went to sudden death. After 8 penalties each, UCD won it 5-4 with a Ben O' Carroll penalty. (He had missed an earlier one!)
Daire Cregg played the full 60 minutes but did not reappear in extra time and did not take a penalty. Ben O Carroll came on at half time and also played the full extra time. Neither player were on top form and could do with a break.

Hopefully Daire is not injured or carrying an injury as he has looked a tired player recently.
The Sigerson Cup final is scheduled for next Wednesday, so I can't really see either player starting against Monaghan who also have a couple of UCD players.

I doubt Ulster University or DCU who play tomorrow night will be shaking in their boots after tonight's match.

Cregg went off injured after 50 minutes unfortunately, seemed to be limping before going off. Hopefully it's not too serious for him.
