We might as well retire the 15 jersey in that senior squad. It never seems to be worn by an actual forward.

I've been hearing that for a long time.
They don't seem to have made any impact on the senior championship in recent years so can't be considered close.

Just saw the line up for Sunday's game vs Mayo. I hope management can prove me wrong but I'm not a fan. Gleeson back in goal, Mulkerrins right half back, McHugh midfield, D'Arcy left half forward and no O Curraoin. I'm starting to lose faith very fast.

Same concerns. Unless he has an injury and is being minded for Sigerson, O'Curraoin should be well ahead of any forward not named Walsh or Comer. It's not exactly an attack minded team named. Only saving grace is despite injuries in our midfield, the Mayo combination looks worse.

Gleesons never been out of goal.
I find it hard to move on from that to be honest.
I actually rewatched the Galway Armagh game from 2022 recently. Incredible stuff

Who does he put in goal on Sunday instead of Gleeson? Conor Flaherty is injured. Does he really start Oran Burke who isn't even second choice goalkeeper for his club, he played one game in the FBD against Leitrim and he was the second coming on here. Now I'm not saying you Brandyh but some of the posters on this forum have not got a Scooby doo about football or Galway football for that matter.

If the best team in Ireland was named what Galway players would be on it?

Sean Kelly, Mc Daid, Shane Walsh and Damien Comer would be likely imo.

The missing injured players plus Cooke being gone are serious losses alright. Seems an odd looking team but presume there will be some positional changes. McHugh named in midfield? Mulkerrin is not a wing back. He's a 3 or a 6. D'Arcy only back on the panel and straight into wing forward? Managers seem to love naming Sweeney at 15 now. Both Galway and the College doing it.

The younger lads are only starting to come through now.Jack Glynn,Conor Flaherty Kyle Long are only early 20s and the teams that started winning are only breaking into senior now so they will start to make in roads in the next few years.

Galway are in the Top 5 teams in Ireland.
Gleeson isn't in the Top 5 keepers in Galway.
Scooby Doo could tell you that

A fit Cillian McDaid guaranteed.
Ran Conor Glass into the ground in an All Ireland semi final and we see how highly he's rated at the minute

Anyone know where Patrick Kelly is. Man was an ever present in our run to the All Ireland Final in 22 and contributed hugely, hasn't been seen since

I don't deny there's great potential.
I was replying to the statement that they could become the main club in Galway.
They really need to start by getting to a semi final spot r a final.

Yes you put Burke in goal. What was the point you of him doing well in the FBD if you aren't going to try him in a league match? "He isn't even second choice keeper for his club". He literally was second choice all year and came on when Power got injured in the Connacht semi final so I don't know where you got that from.

What happened to Flaherty? He played Sigerson the week after he dropped out of the FBD panel for the Leitrim game so I assume it wasn't that

I'll go one better, I spoke to Conor Glass about the game at a function last year.

Why do you say that re Mayo?
That's their strongest 15 bar Ruane and Diarmaid O Connor.
Galway missing a lot more.
D'arcy presumably there as a kickout option at wing forward. Don't think he's up to it but hope to be proven wrong.
O Curraoin looks a good player - I reckon it was a decision between him and Liam O Conghaile.
O Conghaile is quality albeit usually a half forward line player. He was the main man for the u20s last year until he got injured.

Jesus I actually watched that yesterday. Gleeson almost cost us the game. Shambolic goalkeeping but he was marginally better on the line last year.

Oran Burke was never going to start ahead of Conor Gleeson. He only started FBD because Conor Flaherty was injured.Same thing was done to Conor Flaherty and Bernie Power.Dont know why.
