Replying To JahTribe:  "Ah lads, not even started the league and the injuries are already causing problems. McLoughlin and Maher maybe in Midfield with Conroy to either start or come in. What's wrong with Mcdaid? Could Joyce not get down on bended knee and bring Michael Daly back or has that ship sailed. What about O Currain I assume he has to come into squad. Where is Finnerty? Its hard to believe we have a lack of scoring forwards maybe PJ will try lads in the league where surely to feck avoiding relegation is the objective. Could someone post our full panel outside of the development squad if such a list is available."
McDaid got injured last October playing for the club. Didn't even play for them in the intermediate final or their Connacht campaign. I'd say he's due back soon but doubt he'll play the first few league games anyway. Very hard to get any information out of Galway camp.

Rumour has it McLoughlin won't be in with the seniors. Something about going abroad for college. Same with Hernon.
McDaid fractured his tibia playing for Monivea in the intermediate semi final.
He won't be back this soon.

Looks like they'll be down a good few big players for much of the league considering the injuries and even Cooke likely being gone. Get enough points to stay up will be aim I'd say and hopefully unearth a player or two and then hope to have everyone back fit for championship.

Agreed Johnny has to start.

A good man to tussle with Ryan O'Donaghue.

Very impressed with him last year.

What is the issue behind him not joining the setup? I've heard some rumour mill stuff. So is it Joyce doesn't want him or Michael Daly doesn't want to play IC football? Either way, it's a pity this can't be sensibly resolved. He has the talent and ability. Time waits for no one and imo this window of opportunity has to be properly presented again to the lad and, from his part, seized by him. The chance to wear your county's jersey at snr level is something that's fleeting at best and simply out of reach for so many that dearly love the game. It's a pity to see talent wasted and opportunity lost. The years fly by and now is the time to do it. Work and other commitments will always, always be there down the road! Enjoy this now Michael while you're young and able, and just go for it, and PJ needs to sort this if at all doable.

He also did stayed with Tommy Conroy in last year's league final, after Glynn struggled with his pace. His pace is vital to match up with a quick forward.

Didn't think they'd had confirmation about Cooke? Also heard Hernon was going to be welcomed back in a few months after travelling but McLaughlin definitely not going to be around.

Is McGrath injured, not seen him play for ATU Galway the last few weeks?

Good opportunity for others to get games and in the long term might benefit the panel.

PJ doesn't seem to deviate from a few guys all the time.
I would imagine McGrath, McHugh, Daly, Cathal Seeeney, Conroy, Maher, Comer, Walsh will all start
I wouldn't be surprised to see Gleeson in goal also, remember he's been there for 2 years solid now

Impossible to guess a team for Sunday but I'd say:

Flaherty

Fitzgerald
Mulkerrin
McGrath

Molloy
Daly
O'Flaherty

Maher
McHugh

Tierney
Walsh
Sweeney

Finnerty
Comer
O'Curraoin

We are down a good few lads then it appears. As someone says above we get a lad back but then another lad is gone, its probably the future for IC but it lessens our chances of winning Sam. I dont believe we can afford to have lads not playing, travelling etc but you cant tell a lad he has to play. Its disappointing for supporters though. It would be nice to beat Mayo after last years debacle. Roscommon look like they have assembled a good panel and have lads not afraid to shoot and are also very accurate. Galway need to step it up a bit this year and stop the slow ponderous build up. its a concern that if Comer is out we have not produced a target man to replace him. What harm giving other forwards a chance in the league to impress. I wouldn't be too confident about Sunday but if we could win it would go along way towards avoiding relegation which is surely our main goal with league along with progressing a few lads.

Comer was on Parkinson's podcast this week. Said he's fit but unlikely that he will play all the league games this year. Everyone probably has one eye on being fit for championship.

Thought I heard that Tierney would miss the first 3 games.

Uni Galway squeezes past St Mary's late on. O'Curraoin and O'Conghaile good again. O'Curraoin has a beautiful strike of a football. Seems to be a top class free taker but chips in from play as well. McLaughlin much improved over their first game. Got motm I think. Pity he doesn't seem to be involved with Galway again this year.

Don't think he's finished with College, or certainly no longer in ATU.

Always felt the hype about McLaughlin was a bit exaggerated, but looked a step above the rest last night.

He has been unlucky with injuries and cant forget how young he was when he started playing senior with Moycullen and even with UoG and Galway.

Its a pity he seems to be away from the panel this year but he will be there next year. A year away could do him good.

Agree re O'Curraoin, an exciting talent.

Is Tomo carrying an injury, or is he struggling to get in that forward line? Could fit him in somewhere you'd think.

A deserved win overall, but it was another goalkeeper error unfortunately that got Mary's back into it late on. McLaughlin got on a lot of ball and created a lot of problems with his direct running. Liam Ó Conghaile kicked some lovely scores and Cillian Ó Curraoin was very good from placed balls again. Two big scores at the end from Cian Monaghan to keep them in the competition.
