Replying To anotheralias:  "Again I ask for evidence? Where is it? Big game attendances , huge TV and steaming viewership . In general higher scoring games than ever before . These are incontrovertible stats. For sure there are other stats that are concerning i.e. ratio of footpasses to handpasses is low, number of contested kickouts is low . These are incontrovertible stats to support the other argument .. But there is no clear cut incontrovertible case in either direction.
You must be talking to different people to me because I dont know where the "vast majority" is. Also I have noticed that many of the people who I talk with that agree with me are in the upper quartile on the IQ spectrum and the ones with alternative views tend to be further down the scale. Now I'm not quoting that as fact , its just my own personal observation.
And please ( and this is just a request), dont quote Colm O Rourke , Pat Spillane or Joe Brolly to support your argument because ( again only my opinion) using their names only weakens the argument.
One last point , when have we ever had 2 players in the game of the calibre of DC and SW who are just a pleasure to watch... You can quote any of the names in the past that you wish ( and indeed there have been some good ones) but these 2 are the best I've ever seen.
Apart from these , I am a long long time watching football, and I have never enjoyed it as much as I do now - last weekends games were a particular example.
I really really hope that the GAA does not apply a knee jerk reaction in terms of complex rule changes."
Yeah, it could be a way to get lads to stop giving out about the state of football. Suggest to them that they're less intelligent, than 'upper quartile' lads who tend to be bothered, and indeed occasionally offended, by the constant barrage of negative commentary about the game of football that has evolved post Jimmy McGuinness.

Whilst the sarcasm is not lost on me, I would like to clarify .
There are plenty of intelligent people who agree with the Brolly / Spillane rhetoric . just like there are plenty of intelligent people who supported Man Utd back in the day.
But I feel that like the Man U fanbase it is also flooded with people, who don't really know much about football but like to follow what is perceived to be the more popular platform.

Not a bad idea. I suppose its as good as idea as to stop people trying to defend the state of the game by calling them "delusional"

Jolly workout for footballers v Cork in Limerick yesterday. Conor Flaherty was custodian - did well, energetic, vociferous, helped organised the defence and is a significant addition.

Listened to D Blake on the maroon and white podcast say that he doesn't think it's a great idea to keep swapping management there management got them to a semi final and they ran them, also he said with regards looking for the new manager he will leave that up to the players surely the club will be the ones to decide this? And players just give them a preference who they would like to have
