Replying To Galwegian_Entity:  "The thing is they started off with great intensity. Early on they were fighting for every ball throwing their bodies in there but it just didn't last long.

I also don't think it's all down to lack of fight, intensity and fight is important hut nothing beats skill, and it's not that Kilkenny were great today but right now there's 5 or 6 teams who have better players than we have. It doesn't help our best players aren't that young and very few have put their hands up to show they are going to be the future of Galway hurling"
It's certainly not all down to fight of workrate, but that's your starting point no matter the quality of team. Galway hurling is not in a good place at any level at the moment. That's an issue to he sorted at a wider level no doubt.

Replying To Galwegian_Entity:  "With very little coming through and our best players mostly past their best I worry for the future.

If we don't have the talent it doesn't matter who the manager is. Donoghue has his work cut out. Overall we have hit most of our targets this year (avoid relegation, leinster final) I think most would be happy with that but our lack of fight and our lack of skill and poor performances and hammerings we took is disappointing. I didn't mind losing today if we kept with in 4 or to 5 points and actually played well.

We only made a slight comeback because Kilkenny turned off"
I would disagree since we do have the likes of Aaron niland,Rory Burke and Jason rabbite etc and many more from this years u20 team they should have contended for the all ireland but maybe there key players trainning with Galway seniors put them off

Do you enjoy hurling spuds to ducks?

Something has been 'putting off' our under20/21 sides for an alarming number of seasons now, and we're starting to reap the 'benefits' now at senior level.

Disappointed with our performance today made Kilkenny look good!
We will probably beat Tipp and end up in a Semi Final v Cork."
'Probably' beat Tipp? Do I detect a small bit of doubt creeping in?

A poor day at the office for sure. A period of reflection needed. But I left today with a bit of hope due to the last 10 minutes.

Replying To galway19:  "Dreadful performance. Hurled for maybe 10 mins out of the 70. Wouldn't have beaten Kildare playing like that. Back to the drawing board for next year and get the club championship going. Quarter final or a semi final is a pointless exercise with that setup"
The thing is, it would have beaten Kildare, probably out the gate too. This Galway team had a +50 points difference in the Leinster Championship, so nonsensical observations are exactly that.......nonsensical!

Down right red raw use**ss today. It'll be Tipperary by at least 10 in two weeks. Mass exodus of supporters on the 57th minute today. Take note, lads.

Should be better against tipp id say local derby."
No, it shouldn't imo. Tipp are progressing these days close to KKs level, and maybe even above it too. Galway have beaten Tipp in 4 of our last 5 championship meetings, but that won't be happening in 2025 I can assure you.

Not as much as I enjoy seeing someone from Mayo talk about hurling.

Are Mayo people not allowed have an opinion on hurling? The arrogance from some hurling people never ceases to amaze me

I felt watching that Galway lacked belief and were waiting for Kilkenny to beat them. Once that was established then decided we will show you we can hurl with the weight and expectation of winning now gone. I don't really know what was with winning hard ball and hitting it into areas where there was no Galway player. We can't talk scored a goal when Bennett was in near the goal and pulled down when about to score another. Limerick will have their most potent forward Gillane in where he can do damage. It's a percentage game and 2 out of 10 will do.

Dont be fooling yourself. Glassy-eyed reveries might over consolation but they are delusional. Remember in the Leinster semi final Dublin came back from something like a 16 point margin and pegged KK back to 2 points before they extended it again. Do you think Dublin hurling supporters have reasons to feel hope as well?

What shocked me today was the hurling strategy or lack thereof. It looked like we though Johnny Glynn was playing full forward, we have small and reasonably pacy forwards so the idea of hitting in high balls to Huw Lawyer is mind boggling. The second thing that was awful was our inability to win our own puckouts, this has been a problem for a number of years now, we seem to lash it out and hope somebody will get it. KK are a decent team but not world beaters by any means. All being told we are in year 1 of a MOD rebuild, so giving the benefit of the doubt here. I do worry that we don't have the talent at a quantity to step up from underage to make the impact that's needed

If the sight of a Tipp jersey on the other side of the field doesn't fire them up then they should vacate the county jersey. I can't see us doing anything the next day. Maybe restore some pride but you couldn't say too many of our lot have the stomach for battle when it gets tough."
Men against boys really. Physically, a very light-weight Galway team who Kilkenny easily threw aside - as Paidí O'Sé used to say "like a loaf of bread". You'd have to feel sorry for the sub keeper.

Nothing of a positive note to cling onto leaving Croke Park yesterday. A howler from the keeper but his puckouts were actually very good. Well beaten in every single position on the field. We have slipped back so much I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Tipp will put a big beating on us and Donoghues first season back will be over with nothing to show from it. The players are just not there and that's the long and the short of it.

We had 5 or 6 who could compete, Daithi, P.mannion, Morrissey(should have started), Brennan, C. mannion and Whelan.

Well 5/15 clearly isn't good enough is it?
