Can't see how that Tyrone side beats Dublin though ...
Dubs to win it" What can you not see about it? Tyrone have the know how, they have the key players to push Dublin to the wire. Who says Tyrone cannot be on the winning side....Its all on the day. Tyrone have not just appeared on the scene, this team has been building this past 4 to 5 years. We have fantastic ball carriers who are composed and intelligent. We have a defensive system that will stand up to any onslaught. We are extremely dangerous on the attack and have a very strong bench of players. We are in the final without really fully clicking and we are unpredictable.....who knows how we will set up against Dublin, what players and what system will be used? Tyrone's decision making and execution in front of goals was poor against Monaghan, but we just need one game where it all comes together and guess what we have one game to go.

Replying To Whammo86: "Look I'm often on here defending the money that goes into Dublin's underage development.
To say that money hasn't contributed to Dublin's success is absolutely BS.
The money that goes into underage is what is able to create this talent.
These guys aren't just born brilliant footballers.
They have the potential to be brilliant footballers and Dublin is able now to get them playing GAA and get them developed to the level they are at.
No other county has the resources to compete with that over a sustained period.
If I had to bet the over/under on the next 50 All Ireland's I think I'd be quite happy to back Dublin at 30 of them.
They'll start to win Hurling All Ireland's within 10 years I'd say too." So why have we only won 1 minor all Ireland in 39 years ?
You do realize that a lot of our players had fathers that played for Dublin ? Ciaran Kilkenny is Sean Purcell's second cousin Paul Mannion has Roscommon inter county cousins , these Dublin players were born to play for Dublin it's in their DNA.

The same effort is put in Dublin clubs and county for hurling and the other codes. We don't have underage success in any code, we don't have success at adult hurling. It is no secret that the mens football template has been applied to ladies football and it is reaping rewards. But it is NOT about money the template (if you can get your hands on it) can be applied to Leitrim as much as Dublin. All the excess money (if there is any) goes into games development i.e. bringing NEW players into the clubs thats the lions share of money. I will concede its really a numbers game, Kerry will probably win Minor AI how many of those players HAVE to make it to Senior? A lot I would say. How many of the Dublin Minors have to make it at Senior? just a few and they will be exceptional and that is the difference. We have the numeric advantage and the filtering system to extract the very best. In the past Dublin had huge numbers but not the system. The system doesn't require money, most of Dublin GAA's money goes into games promotion and development (the numbers).

Replying To county man: "Saw that too...very cycincal....and Tyrone are not the only team doing it. Surprised refs don't pick up on it.
The Dubs will have taken notice like you say and will be ready for it" It's not a new tactic. Tyrone did the same thing against Dublin in Omagh. Its not strictly illegal either (though the rule is open to interpretation). The only mistake they made was on one occasion, the player running across the ball waved his hand, which is illegal (rule 4.19) and the ball was brought forward 13m. Dublin are well aware of this tactic and I'd imagine they've considered this in training.

I dont see Tyrone out-scoring Dublin. I dont see how anything they can possibly do on the day can surprise Dublin enough for us to not sort it out and over come it. Like Galway before them, there are two things Tyrone can do. They can do what they done last year and go ultra defensive and last years result will just reoccur, Or they can "have a cut" as the experts say nowadays, and in a shootout id fancy Dublin every day. Dublin has a lot of GAA talent. It has roughly 1/4 of the underage population in the entire country.
It gets a lot of money to develop that talent, as it should as we'd all much prefer Gaelic games to flourish than soccer or rugby who are also spending large sums in the capital.
You also have an incredible manager and a very well run senior intercounty team.
You have benefited from the rural to urban migration that has characterised Ireland's recent history.
There's even been displacement of people from traditional soccer heartlands as a result of gentrification in areas like Grand Canal Dock.
All these factors, huge playing pool, more GAA tradition, more potential talent, huge funds at all levels helping to turn that potential into reality, great management are contributing to Dublin's success.
The bitter outsiders try to lay the blame solely at the GAA's funding of Dublin, which is wrong.
It is equally wrong though to say that Dublin haven't benefited hugely from that funding.
Hurling whilst not winning All Irelands is in a much better place than it was 10-15 years ago.

I would be a little bit more cautious about Tyrone to be honest. If there were two teams heading into the championship i was reluctant to meet it would have been Galway and Tyrone.
As many have said Dublin are a team for ages and look almost impossible to beat sometimes, but they are not unbeatable in my opinion. In recent games for me they have periods during games were they have been sloppy or lax, i thought we were there for the taking in the first half Vs Galway and a team like Tyrone would have put us to the sword. A bit of nostalgia in this one as for me this era began in quarter final in 2011 in the rain, it was the first time i believed we could all the way and win an All Ireland.
Now im not down playing Dublin chances, they are a wonderful team and be roaring hot favorites for this and if they pay to their potential or are allowed they will win this well. But i am a veteran of many a Tyrone ambush, not just during the 00's but also in League games were they had this Dublin team to the pin of the collar in recent years in tough games. I was amazed by the result in the Semi final last year and i think Tyrone probably are pound for pound the second best team in the country, they will be disappointed with their end result in the last few years.
Harte will have this team well prepared. My concern for Tyrone is they have shown their hand a bit in the last two games. I can see what they are trying to do, a high press on kick outs, man to man in a zone, and a swarm defense out on the flanks so the defense cant be stretched. Their game will rely on those three facets and turnover and if they can take those scores if the first two come off. The problem with that is if I can see it you can bet Jim Gavin does to and he will have a counter.
It will be a clash of styles and philosophies with both teams well prepared, discipline could key with both teams well schooled in the dark arts. It will proper men game with both teams very equally matched physically. Both well able to win turn over.
I think Dublin will win in it on having better quality offensively, better game management and adaptability and flexibility, they can also match Tyrone for physicality and winning turnover. An early goal for either really put the cat amongst the pidgeons though.
A tight game in my opinion, but with Dublin coming out on top coming down the straight with springing the bench when the space open up. But i wouldn't be underestimating Tyrone, ive been that solider.

Hurling whilst not winning All Irelands is in a much better place than it was 10-15 years ago." I agree with you to an extent there is no point not saying we are not well funded county, there is a bit of hyperbole around it really in terms of unfairness from other counties with an axe to grind, but Dublin are as well funded as other top counties. Safe to say it has been used well.
Like you say there are many moons that have aligned to provide the foundation for the current success, for me the biggest has been the development of the game across the county. Both North and South. traditionally you were looking at the Dublin team coming in the majority from a hand full of clubs on the Northside. If you look at the team now its representative of North and South Dublin clubs, its only now we are realising our potential and cultivating our resources. That for me is secret behind much of our success. Look at the current Dublin team, take out the players from South-side clubs and its a very different team. There isnt one player on the Panel from the Dublin County Champions strangley.
I will say this though, in terms of funding when you actually look at it there are only 30k registered GAA players in Dublin, given the population of Dublin that massively poor. The funding and the extent is required without question or the GAA looses the capital. There are areas of Dublin that haven't been tapped yet, huge populations in West Dublin, in Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan, Blancardstown that have produced top soccer and rugby players but very few given there size have gone into success in GAA.
Much work to do, but much work to be done. 39k registered GAA players for a population of 1.345 million people is massively poor in my opinion. We are beginning to move in the right direction.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, Dublin have at least another couple of gears which we simply don't have and that is where they will invariably win the game. I thought Galway were pretty good on Saturday for the first 50 mins but when Dublin moved it up a couple of notches then the result became an inevitability. I can see the final following a not too dissimilar pattern and unless something dramatic happens the same result too.

Replying To cavanman47: "You've written something similar on a number of threads in the last day or 2.
To a point, you're correct. As shown by Meath and Wicklow's victories at minor level over Dublin.
But as you get to senior level it's a completely different story. And the big advantage Dublin have is the ability to retain all their best players. Rural counties simply can't keep their players.
Look at my own county. . . In a 4 year period, we won 4 u21 ulster titles and a minor ulster title. All of the players who played on those teams are in their mid 20s now. And our local paper listed the players from those teams who are not willing to commit to intercounty football. It was eye watering!!
In the majority of cases, travel time from work to training was the issue. Some are abroad, but most are in Dublin.
Tom Parsons was interviewed on Off the Ball about 18months ago. He works with Jacob's in Dublin. He explained how he only takes work holidays for big championship games and that he cannot hold down a starting place during the league because he cannot give the same level of commitment all year round. He is one of a huge number of similar cases.
How many of the Dublin panel work or study outside of Dublin? When is the last time they had to do a 10 hour round trip for a championship game?
Deny it all you want, use every excuse and smokescreen you can think of. . .there is an imbalance there and it is ludicrous to deny it!" Jesus, I know people want us moved out of Croker for games but now people want our players moved out of their jobs and colleges? The Idiocy is strong in this one.

Replying To Wally: "Listen guys like me have been screaming at Mickey Harte to implement the game plan which he deployed in the first half for years now. They had slightly tweaked it all year but we really should have been perfecting this from day one.
Now as i have said a thousand times before, we have the players capable of winning the All Ireland, I just feel that we have maybe left it a little but too late to start playing in this style. But it is definitely good to see our management team finally trust our players.
The truth is that we would need to play the same system against Dublin and have the game of our lives to expect a result.
But at even if we are beat, at least we are going in the right direction in terms of the style of footfall which we want to play. And who knows, maybe in a year or two playing this new attacking system we might actually land Sam again.
Anyway it should be a great occasion but unfortunately I have a conference in Miami and will not be able to attend." Conference in miami?
