Meath V Fermanagh

Replying To Sheridan2010louth:  "I'm not saying moriarty has to play midfield, he should be in there ahead of lynch or McGowan. He's been on fire for UCD in sigerson. Lucky for COR it looks like fermanagh are in a bad place and no matter how bad we perform we should still win. Its the following week against Armagh that worries me with team selections like this."
Perhaps COR is trying to manage the sigerson lads game time? I know there is a few other sigerson lads starting but he probably cant not start them all. I would be surprised if Walsh starts given his recent issues

Good to see ignorance is still there towards the 6 most northern counties in Ireland.

Id say the same about you and Dublin all the same(Ashbourne is Dublin now isnt it?)well same until look at trophies then is a difference.

The ROYAL county very confident ahead of the weekend.

That's fair enough logic for the maynooth, TUD and DCU lads who have played games 3 weeks in a row but the UCD lads (Coffey, Lynch and Moriarty) all had a week off and would be well rested.

I dont get all this excitement about young lads coming through and should be starting. Every year is the same.
You cant play a team of 19 and 20 year olds at senior intercounty level. They would be slaughtered!
Just because a lad shows up well for a UCD team that hammered every team they played against doesnt mean he is ready to mix it with a Div 2 Senior intercounty team. Big difference!
No matter how bad Fermanagh might we dont have the luxury to throw out a bunch of young lads against them!! And to be fair to CoR he knows that and Im sure he as seen them in training too!

I am bewildered at some of his selections though! I feel for Campion - if is first match at 6 was against Galway then how can he be ready to be a no. 6? might get away with it against Fermanagh but all it takes is a good No.11 to control a game!
This is a bit like a bad club manager who loses a few matches and then start trying lads in different positions so brings some of the forwards back and the backs forward!! instead of fixing the actual problem itself!!

I traveled down to see a nephew play for DCU against TUS the other night. Shane Walsh was stuck to the ground at No.11. it was a one sided affair and I guess he was not in a heated battle but does not look one bit ready for No.11 for Meath. Needs to regain more fitness. I'd be nursing him back as we will need hime more as the weeks go on! I dont think playing him 3 days after another match will help with injuries!

Would have rather seen Keoghan 3 or 6. And half forward line doesn't excite me one bit!

Thats fair enough. I was just going by Fergal Lynch on twiter during the week who said he had played a full game. He will most likely start so.

I very much doubt that. COR wants the sigerson managers to manage the players game time, and he will do as he pleases with them. He seems to be the only manager in the country whinging about it. Everyone other manager just gets on with it.

Some writing Fermanagh off without knowing a whole lot about their team. Must admit to having no insight other than ye lost a few good players. In reality we are both division two teams not really sure where we stand. Second season under COR and hope to see improvement in all aspects of our game, but evidence suggests we are in no position to take any team for granted. Like all teams we must win our home games, think we will come out on the right side of a tight game.

Ahh I've a good time for you as a poster. But honestly I read that as north Meath men South Meath men comrades all. before reading it back. Through the years on here you know there is as much dislike between those two factions as anyone :).

Don't expect anything other than at least a 5 plus win. We really should be putting down a marker for this game. Some saying a tight game ? If it is then we in serious trouble.

Really looking forward to getting back to league. Best wishes to Colm Ronan and everyone involved today. Hon the royal.

Best of luck to Colm, Ronan and the lads. Incredibly nervous about this one. I remember 2009 and the Valentines Day Massacre when Fermanagh beat us under the lights. Could see this happening again unfortunately. We just don't have any consistency. Losing against Longford has really set us back. Only way is up I suppose. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck to Colm, Trevor and the team. A good performance will take care of the result, a bad one and we are liable to lose to a division 4 team never mind Fermanagh.

FFS Colm could you not put someone man marking their keeper when they have possession!

WHY DID O'ROURKE TAKE FRAYNE OFF??

Frayne is the one man in meath you want shooting in them close game situations, he just doesn't miss. I accept he lacks a yard of pace but he scored 5 points and that's more than any forward on the pitch done. I certainly wanted him taking that free matt costello dropped short to win it.

Frayne scored 5 points not 3, most of our forwards scored nothing.
