One of Armagh’s most famous football families is gearing up for two Ulster finals on Saturday.
For the third year running, the Mackins from Camlough are set to have a big say in the destination of the Ulster senior men’s and ladies football titles. Ciaran and Connaire are part of Kieran McGeeney’s squad that meets Donegal in the men's decider at Clones, while their sister Blaithin will also face Donegal in the preceding ladies final. Another sister, Aimee, would also be involved but for a second cruciate ligament injury.
Ciaran suffered a setback in his recovery from the same injury against Derry earlier this year, but is expected to feature in the Anglo-Celt Cup final.
“It’s rotten luck - me and Connaire are going to bubble wrap ourselves for the next two weeks,” Blaithin jokingly remarked at the recent Ulster final press day.
“Touch wood, that'll be the last of it. It stands to be a pretty special day as always though.”
The ladies final throws in at 3pm and will be followed by the men's final at 5.25pm.
