Leinster GAA is expecting a crowd of about 50,000 for Sunday’s hotly-anticipated provincial football final between Louth and Meath.

With the infamous final of 2010 still fresh in many supporters’ minds, coupled with the local rivalry that exists between the two counties, the attendance looks set to be the biggest for a Delaney Cup decider since 2017 when 66,734 turned up for the Dublin v Kildare final.

Leinster football final attendances have been in steady decline since then owing to Dublin’s utter dominance, but Meath’s shock semi-final win over the long-time champions has given the ailing championship a much-needed shot in the arm.

All the signs are that the 2010 attendance of 48,875 will be surpassed this weekend as Louth seek their first Leinster title since 1957 and Meath go in search of their first in 15 years.
