Antrim came up with a superb display to see off Laois by 4-22 to 0-21 at Corrigan Park and retain their Allianz Hurling League Division 1B status.

With a sickness outbreak having hit their squad earlier this week, there had been suggestions that the Saffrons may not have been able to fulfil today’s crunch fixture in west Belfast.

However, Davy Fitzgerald’s side came ready for battle and ran up a 0-6 to 0-2 lead before James McNaughton hammered in their first goal in the 11th minute.

McNaughton and Ryan McCambridge added points ahead of Conor Johnston bagging the hosts’ second goal to send them towards a commanding 2-15 to 0-8 half-time lead.

The Glensmen kept their foot on the throttle in the second-half, with goals from McNaughton, who finished with 2-11, and Keelan Molloy towards the finish rubber stamping the way which ensures their Division 1B safety, while Laois now must battle it out in their remaining games to try and avoid the drop to Division 2.
