Recently-retired Aussie Rules star Zach Tuohy is currently appearing in the Australian version of ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.’

The former Portlaoise and Laois footballer and his fellow contestants are in a jungle in South Africa where they are hoping to win $100,000 for a charity of their choice. Tuohy’s chosen charity is 'Heart Kids,' an Australian organisation that supports families of children with early onset heart disease.

“I can’t start a fire and don’t know how to make a camp. If any of the trials are to drink a pint of Guinness, I’m in,” joked the 35-year-old, who is a household name in Australia after a stellar career with Carlton and Geelong.

Tuohy, who set a new record for the number of AFL games played by an Irish player in 2023, was back home in Portlaoise before Christmas for the launch of his autobiography. Indeed, he hopes to play for his home club again before hanging up his boots for good.
