Holders Omagh CBS are out of this year’s MacRory Cup after suffering a shock quarter-final defeat to South West Donegal on Sunday evening.

An amalgamation of five post-primary schools – Colaiste na Carraige, St Catherine’s Vocational School Killybegs, St Columba’s Comprehensive Glenties, Pobalscoil Na Rossan and Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair – South West Donegal prevailed by 2-7 to 1-7 at O’Neills Healy Park thanks to a last-gasp Padraig O’Donnell goal. All-Ireland champions Omagh had led by the minimum at half-time after Adrian McGurren and Darragh Henegan had traded goals.

South West Donegal’s victory set up a first-ever all-Donegal semi-final against fellow MacRory Cup newcomers Abbey VS in Ballyshannon this Saturday at 2pm. The other semi-final will be contested by St Pat’s, Armagh and St Pat’s, Maghera.
