Alan Davidson has rejoined the Down football panel after a two-year absence.
However, the former the former Newry City, Glenavon and Ballymena Irish League soccer player may not feature in the Allianz League as he's still recovering from ankle surgery.
"I'd been contemplating going back to soccer, I'd be speaking to a couple of Irish League clubs and I wasn't sure what to do, and then I got a phone call one night from Paddy (Tally)," the Warrenpoint clubman explained in the Irish News.
"He asked me to come along and join up with the panel, try and get myself fit and give myself a chance of recovering and having an input. By the end of the phone call, I had made my mind up that I wanted to go back.
"My only goal is to get myself back, and it'll take me six or eight weeks from right now. All I'll be looking to do is just put myself in contention for game-time."
