Coolderry GAA honour Pat Carroll
May 20, 2011
Last Sunday saw Coolderry GAA pay tribute to the legendary Pat Carroll, 25 years on from his passing.
To mark his honour an evening of hurling was held in Coolderry to remember one of the finest hurlers to ever grace its fields, with the highlight of the evening being a senior hurling challenge between Offaly and Limerick which saw the Shannonsiders come away as convincing winners on a 1-24 to 0-16 score-line.
During the half-time interval of the game, Pat's mother, Angie Carroll and his son Brian planted a tree in his memory, while club chairman Coleman Hogan also paid tribute to the Carroll family and expressed his gratitude to everyone in attendance and those that helped out on the evening.
A Cup was presented by Brian Caroll to Limerick captain Gavin O'Mahoney after the feature game, which was preceded by Coolderry playing host to St Finbarr's of Cork in a senior challenge that saw the home side come away 2-18 to 3-7 winners.
