Dawson takes charge of Down U21s

Frank Dawson when in charge of the Antrim senior footballers.

Frank Dawson is the new Down U21 football manager.

The former Antrim senior boss will juggle his new role with that of Bryansford manager after new Down senior supremo Jim McCorry gave the arrangement his blessing.

"Jim and I spoke about the Bryansford position and we feel it is manageable," Dawson explained to the Irish News.

"We had a good chat about how both teams will operate and it looks like we will all train together - the seniors and the U21s. Jim's style of football is very similar to mine and maybe that's why we get on so well as football people. We have the same outlook on how football should be played.

"We are going to have to looka t the materials at our disposal and work a game plan around that. It makes sense to play in a similar way to the seniors so lads can make that step up."
