Galway star Damien Comer was in fine form for his club Annaghdown on Sunday as they produced a seismic shock in the county senior football championship against Tuam Stars.

Annaghdown defeated the Stars by 2-14 to 1-16 at Kenny Park, where Comer struck a decisive 2-3 over the hour to help his side to a victory which progresses them into the knock-out stage in the Frank Fox Cup race.

Comer netted a goal in each half, with his second putting his side three points up against the Division 1 league champions with just over five minutes remaining in Athenry.

Annaghdown would see out the one-point win which now leaves them needing a point from their final group game against Oughterard to advance straight into the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere in the Galway SFC on Sunday, holders Moycullen defeated Dunmore MacHales by 3-16 to 2-15, Salthill/Knocknacarra scored a 5-17 to 0-14 win over Barna and Monivea-Abbey edged Naomh Anna Leitir (0-17 to 1-13).
