Cork ladies are on the lookout for a new senior football manager after Joe Carroll’s decision to step down.

Carroll’s two-year term with the Rebels came to an end last month when they were defeated by Dublin in the quarter-finals of the TG4 All-Ireland senior football championship.

With the end of the manager’s term, Cork LGFA sent out for expressions of interest for the role with the deadline set for this past Thursday at 5pm.

EchoLive.ie reports that Carroll did not put his name forward, which therefore means that a new manager will be in charge of the team in 2027.

His first year in charge of Cork saw him steering the Rebels to promotion back to the topflight of the National League, and this past season would see them defeat Galway in the Division 1 final before reaching the last eight of the Brendan Martin Cup race where they were comprehensively defeated by Dublin.
