Dan Shanahan has lamented Waterford’s misfortune after another early Munster SHC exit.
Last Sunday’s defeat to Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds means the Deise face another long summer looking on from the sidelines. Indeed, they have failed to progress beyond the group stage since the Munster SHC format was changed in 2018.
"The bigger fish always get the break. We don't get any breaks," the Waterford selector told RTÉ.
"We haven't had any luck with them decisions. As long as this competition has been going on, we've never had a home game last. We've always been away in our last game, which is hard to believe, if you go through the years that we've been playing.
"But you have to win your home games. We drew one and lost one."
The former Hurler of the Year added: "Tipp had the three-week break. We're just getting no luck in terms of two or three weeks of a break.
"What is the rush? Is it a condensed season or a club season? Give a team two weeks of a break, play a match, week off, play a match, week off, play a match, week off. Because these players are amateurs. That impacts on player availability.”
