Killoe Young Emmets will play Colmcille in Sunday week’s Longford senior football championship final after coming through their semi-final clash with Rathcline this afternoon.
It finished 2-19 to 0-14 at Pearse Park, where goals from Paddy Moran and Eamon Keogh helped the victors advance into their second county final in three years.
Having trailed by 0-5 to 0-2 after the opening quarter of an hour in Longford Town, Killoe hit the front 10 minutes later through Moran’s well-taken goal and would go on to lead by 1-7 to 0-7 at the half.
Keogh, Mark Hughes and Moran all raised white flags after the change of ends ahead of the former hammering in a goal in the 37th minute which made it double scores (2-10 to 0-8).
From there, the 2023 champions were able to see out the win comfortably via the points of Ronan McGoldrick, Moran (2), Cian Farrelly and Cian Dooner to join Colmcille in the Sean Connolly Cup decider, with the last year's runners up having upset competition favourites Clonguish at the same venue yesterday.
