Hogan and Kiely scoop Offaly awards

Declan Hogan and Cillian Kiely have been named Offaly senior footballer and hurler of the year respectively.

Hogan skippered his county this year and was also joint-captain along with Mickey Brazil of the Tullamore team that regained the Dowling Cup, while Kiely starred for Kilcormac-Killoughey in their SHC triumph. Kiely’s club-mates Peter Geraghty (senior ‘B’ hurling), Jordan Quinn (junior football) and Charlie Mitchell (U20 hurling) have also been honoured.

Meanwhile, Rhode’s Seamus Darby – whose famous late goal stopped Kerry’s five-in-a-row bid in the 1982 All-Ireland SFC final – and two-time All-Ireland SHC winner Danny Owens from Kilcormac-Killoughey will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the presentation night on Saturday, January 6.
