Age is no barrier for forty-somethings Ger Farragher and Dan Shanahan who played key roles for their clubs over the past week.

Former Galway sharpshooter Farragher (40) scored a whopping 0-16 in a man of the match performance for Castlegar as they overturned a 11-point deficit against Craughwell on Tuesday night to win by 1-26 to 4-14, and thereby qualify for the Galway SHC quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Waterford legend Dan Shanahan came off the bench to help Lismore preserve their SHC status with a resounding 3-20 to 2-5 relegation playoff victory over Dunhill last Saturday evening.

It was the 46-year-old’s 31st season playing adult hurling for his beloved club.
