Kieran McGeeney’s future as Armagh football manager will be decided at a county board meeting tonight.

Club delegates will convene at the Athletic Grounds to vote on whether or not to retain the 2002 All-Ireland SFC winning captain’s services for a 10th year. It’s believed that some in the Orchard County want change, but McGeeney still has the support of the Management Committee which could prove crucial.

Appointed as successor to Paul Grimley in 2015, McGeeney became the longest-serving inter-county manager after Colm Collins ended his 10-year reign as Clare boss this summer.

Under McGeeney, Armagh have become a formidable outfit, but silverware continues to elude them after three successive penalty shootout heartbreaks in last year’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Galway, and this year’s Ulster SFC final and All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Derry and Monaghan respectively.
