Colm Cooper hailed Kerry’s composure after yesterday’s All-Ireland senior football championship final victory over Galway.
The Kingdom edged out the Connacht champions to record a 0-20 to 0-16 win and claim their 38th Sam Maguire Cup in the process.
Speaking on The Sunday Game, Cooper credited Kerry for getting the win in the biggest game of the year while not being at their best.
"I was never that worried even though Galway led the game for most of it. Kerry were hanging in there and you could see they were still creating. There was something about them; that was the development in the team this year, as well as keeping out the goals,” said the Dr Crokes clubman.
"I think it's an inner confidence that they have. Sometimes when I look at Kerry they're at full flow; they have to be going the whole time. I think they've now learned that we don't have to be at our best to win; they are now very, very functional.
"Kerry and Jack O'Connor might say today wasn't our best display but when it was in the melting pot they dug it out again. It's a sign of champions when you're not at your best. That's something they've learned over the last 12 to 18 months."
