Mary Immaculate booked a home Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final when beating Maynooth University by 1-22 to 0-12 this afternoon.
Clare’s Colin Guilfoyle registered 1-3 for the Limerick college on their own campus, while All-Ireland winner Aaron Gillane clipped over six frees. Guilfoyle’s goal arrived in the second minute, giving the winners an unassailable ten-point interval advantage, 1-13 to 0-6.
MIC’s bid for a third successive Fitzgibbon Cup title was ended by DCU at the quarter-final stage last year. In this year’s last-eight clash on February 6 / 7, Jamie Wall's charges will take on either Cork IT or Waterford IT, who face-off on Thursday evening.
