Rhode manager Paschal Kellaghan has set his side the target of retaining their county SFC title in 2017.
Kellaghan guided his native club to success in Offaly this year, while they progressed to the Leinster club SFC final where they were defeated by Dublin side St Vincent's.
However, the former Offaly footballer revealed to the Midland Tribune that there is a challenge in front of them that they have failed on more than one occasion before.
"There is a statistic there that with the four Leinster finals we have got to previously, we have never won the championship the year after so there is a goal in itself for next year," said Kellaghan.
Rhode are already favourites to defend their county title and with Jake Kavanagh and Anton Sullivan due back from a tour of duty in Lebanon in the New Year, they will go into the county championship with a full deck to choose from.
