Westmeath GAA has been asked if anything can be done to stop footballs from being lost at TEG Cusack Park.
The matter was raised by Bunbrosna delegate Eddie Newman at a county board meeting last week after his club lost five footballs during a recent game at the Mullingar venue. All of the balls apparently cleared the ball-stopping nets and ended up in the nearby Harbour Place Shopping Centre, which has Dunnes Stores as its anchor tenant.
While explaining that a caretaker at the shopping centre had returned over a dozen footballs last week, county board chairman Sean Sheridan admitted that the problem would continue after recent efforts to raise the height of the ball-stopping nets had been unsuccessful.
