Former Tipperary hurler Timmy Hammersley made his debut at centre-forward for Meath against Wicklow in the opening round of the National Hurling League Division 2B at Arklow yesterday.
The Clonoulty-Rossmore star was part of the Tipperary squad that won the All-Ireland SHC title in 2010 and made his championship debut for the Premier County that year coming off the bench against Cork in the Munster semi final.
He represented his native county at all levels and was part of the senior hurling squad up until 2013.
Hammersley hit 1-11 for Waterford IT in the 2010 Fitzgibbon Cup final and posted three points for the Royals in their opening round win over the Garden County.
The Tipp man becomes the fifth player to transfer to Martin Ennis' squad.
Ronan Sherlock (Silvermines), Naomhan O'Riordan (Kilmacud Crokes), Tom Clarke (Kilmacud Crokes) and Naoise Maguire (Ballyboden St Enda's) have all got game time with the Royals during the Walsh Cup and the league opener.
