Cork's most successful hurling club means business if their new backroom team is anything to go by.
Former Cork defender Fergal Ryan, who captained the Rebels to Munster glory in 2000, will manage Blackrock in 2016 and will be assisted by fellow All Star and 1999 All-Ireland winner Wayne Sherlock as well as Kevin Murphy, David Coakley, Jamie Harrington and Donnacha Flynn.
The Rockies haven't added to their record haul of 32 Cork SHC crowns since 2002 but the new management team is a clear statement of intent from the city outfit. Ryan comes into the senior post on the back of three successive county U21 titles as manager.
PRO Roger Ryan told the Evening Echo: "I suppose Fergal's appointment is seen as a natural progression after the success of the U21 teams in recent years and he knows all the players from those teams very well. He's got a good team working with him and everybody in Church Road is looking forward to the new season."
