St Eunan's Letterkenny celebrate their MacLarnon Cup success
St Eunan's, Letterkenny recorded a 1-7 to 1-5 win over Inis Eoghain in an all-Donegal decider in Armagh.
This was a real snatch-and-grab effort from Neil Gordon's charges, who trailed by 1-5 to 0-6 with two minutes left to play. Having gone 13 minutes without a score, the winners then pounced for a goal and a point to take the MacLarnon Cup home for the fifth time.
The goal came from the penalty spot in the 58th minute. Niall O'Donnell was felled from behind as he went to pull the trigger and Daire McDaid kept his nerve to dispatch his shot into the left corner of Jordan McLaughlin's net.
O'Donnell tagged on the insurance point three minutes into injury time and Conor O'Donnell had the honour of accepting the silverware on behalf of his ecstatic team-mates on a St Patrick's Day to remember.
Inis Eoghain contributed a great deal to this final. County senior footballer Darach O'Connor got them off to a flying start with a goal inside the first minute and they led for most of the game.
Sean Hume's 44th-minute free had the winners level, 0-6 to 1-3, before Inis Eoghain moved ahead again with a couple of converted frees.
It went right down to the wire but Eunan's pulled it out of the fire thanks to that late, late McDaid penalty.
