Kildare SHC final: Keegan shines in Celbridge win
October 07, 2013

Celbridge and Kildare star Gerry Keegan hit nine points from full forward.
Celbridge 0-23
Eire Og/Corrachoill 2-11
County star Gerry Keegan scored seven points from play as Celbridge captured their fourth Kildare SHC title in five years with victory over Eire Og/Corrachoill at St. Conleth's Park.
The winners opened up an early four-point lead before they were rocked back on their heels by the concession of two goals in as many minutes. Paul Kennedy got the first before 40-year-old Joe Dempsey followed up with a second after Paul Dermody's penalty had been saved.
Those scores propelled the challengers into a 2-1 to 0-4 lead, but six unanswered points from Mark Moloney, Billy White, Danny Butler, Sam White and Keegan (two) saw Celbridge lead by 0-12 to 2-3 at the break.
Eire Og levelled on the resumption through points from Declan O'Toole (two) and Kennedy, but four classy points from man of the match Keegan made victory safe for the Dublin-border outfit.
