Mullingar Shamrocks' reign as Flanagan Cup holders is over after Tyrrellspass won today's semi-final replay at Cusack Park by 2-17 to 0-18.

County star Denis Glennon hit the net twice as the 'Tidy Town' qualified for their first final since 2007 against St. Loman's next Sunday. The Mullingar club are bidding for their first county title in 50 years after seeing off Garrycastle in a dramatic semi-final last Sunday.

Glennon's first goal had Tom Coffey's men 1-2 to 0-2 ahead after 10 minutes, but they went nearly 20 minutes without scoring as the champions fought back to take a 0-8 to 1-2 lead. But Tyrrellspass finished the half strongly to go into the break on level terms, 1-6 to 0-9.

A brace of Ger Egan points edged the winners back in front on the restart, and they were never headed thereafter as Glennon's second major with eight minutes remaining put the seal on a five-point victory.
